The voting tablet appeared before us, the weight of this vote felt immense. Was it because fewer people made my vote have more weight? Or was it because in my soul, I was uncertain. That outburst... What was that?... Why did I care about how this trial proceeded? Jasper's actions saved us. I should be grateful. But I'm not...
"Hank, what are you waiting for?" Jasper asked, his eyes grey and pink. My heart pounded as I felt the stares of my peers. The anxious anticipation of my vote. One press, and it's all over. I can go back to my room and sleep, then do this all over again.
"Sorry, I was just thinking about everything before confirming my vote," I responded as I pressed the tablet.
"All votes have been registered, everyone. Please look at their screens," Oracle announced. We all watched in silence.
One vote George
One vote Tristan
"This is ridiculous. I don't understand why I was even voted against," Tristan grunted.
Two votes George
Two votes Tristan
"What? Mad that you lost?" Jasper teased.
Three votes George
Three votes Tristan
"I'm just glad that in the end, I wasn't voted off...." George sighed in relief
Four votes George
Four votes Tristan
"Don't be too cocky. You never know what could happen." Tristan smirked in twisted optimism.
Five votes George
Five votes Tristan
"Like anyone would swap their votes, that's wishful thinking," Claire responded shakily.
Six votes George
Six votes Tristan
"Well, we'll see if that's the case." Tristan smiled confidently.
Seven votes George
Six votes Tristan
Geroge has been voted the killer
"Huh?..." Jaspers widened eyes were bright Orange. A twisting feeling formed in my stomach and heart as I looked at the votes.
"AHAHAHAAHAAAA LOOKS LIKE I WON," Tristan screamed, his crimson eyes shining brightly in the black and white room.
"W-W-What!? Why was I voted off?!" George's body trembled.
"Oracle, there has to be some kind of mistake!" Claire pleaded.
"No mistake, these are the registered votes," Oracle responded
"So what now then?" Leo asked, a bit relieved.
"Well, per the game rules, George will be executed," Oracle announced. My heart stopped... Executed? Why? George isn't the killer. I know he isn't! This had to be a mistake. Something had to go wrong! George would never kill! This-This wasn't my intention!
"E-Executed?..." George's eyes widened with fear.
"Of course, I will let you say your last words-" Oracle was interrupted by a cry.
"BUT I'M NOT THE MURDERER!" George shrieked, tears falling out of his eyes onto the ground below.
"What?... G-George isn't the killer... He couldn't be...." Jasper's orange eyes slowly turned into a fuzzy grey color, like static on an old TV. His hands gripping onto his ears.
