Eren doesn't know what to do. He and Levi have been dating for three years now. Since they found each other again in that wide open reception area crowded with interns and new employees, Levi being one of the latter and Eren being the one groomed to take over the business, even with his ADHD. Eren had agreed to take Levi out on a date that very weekend. Well, he tried to keep his promise of a date, anyway. He had forgotten the day he promised to take him out and arrived on Levi's doorstep three days late. Levi had begun to think that Eren didn't want him, but when Eren had reasoned with him, and told him of his neurodevelopmental disorder, ADHD, Levi was more understanding and patient with him.

But today, today Eren can't mess up on! It's two months from their third anniversary, yes, but he just can't wait that long. And yeah, for some people this might be a bit to irrational and rushed, but Eren and Levi live together now, and they share bills and a bank account (because Eren usually forgets to deposit his checks from work, so Levi has to be able to do it for him when he's out, and Eren really appreciates it). They sleep in the same bed, and have had sex many times over the years. But this is something they haven't discussed. I mean, I guess it's something a lot of people don't until there's a ring on someone's finger.

And Eren wants to see a ring on Levi's finger. So bad. He's got the perfect one chosen. One he albeit chose when he was supposed to be getting Levi's dry cleaning and had forgotten all about it until he got back home without and had been given a scolding before he was pushed back out the door and locked out till he brought it home. The ring is black steel with a lapis lazuli gem set in the center with small white diamonds on both sides (real diamonds and a real blue gem that he had to beg his father to help him buy). He guestimated the size of Levi's ring finger by the amount of times he's held the man's hands and kissed the fingers and even had them in his mouth. He's not super positive, but he is proud of it, nonetheless.

Of course he has no idea how he wants to propose. He is sure that his friends will help him. Especially Mikasa, his platonic soulmate.

Everyone has two types of soulmates, and two soulmates nonetheless. Eren has two: Mikasa his platonic soulmate and sister, and Levi, his romantic soulmate and boyfriend. Everyone has two distinctive marks on both wrists: one on the left symbolizes their romantic partner, and the one on the right symbolizes their platonic partner/friend/family. If one is dead, the other takes charge of being both. If both are dead, then the soulmate-less person is given fresh new marks and new soulmates. Eren's marks are, from left to right: a set of black and white wings, and a red furled scarf. The scarf stands for comfort and home and a bond forged by familial love. The wings stand for freedom, mostly, but also of patience and strength and hope for a future that will last a lifetime and love to last for more. Levi has the same wings on his left hand, but on his right is the DNA spiral, green and blue, where Hanji's matches his as well.

Eren is walking up the pathway to Mikasa's house now, desperate for her advice. She's already engaged to her soulmate. They have known each other since childhood. Her and Annie are perfect for each other, as are Jean and Armin, and Erwin and Miche, and Hanji and Petra, and Connie and Sasha. Eren had been supposed to go see his sister two days prior, but had forgotten to set a reminder on his phone. He had only remembered now he had been thinking of the ring that has begun to take residence in his pants pockets.
