Storm's pov
Part 1
Today was my birthday but I never celebrated it. Well not since after him anyway... but I did believe in giving thanks for being alive to be able to help others so I would spend the day going to the orphanage and other charity homes taking food and gifts and afterward immersed myself in work or stayed alone at home. But tonight instead of me doing work or having an early night, I had to attend a charity gala event apparently at which I was the keynote speaker chair which made it impossible for me to send Jones. Helping the less fortunate was close to my heart so I had to be there.
Hearing the girls come in, I got to taking everything out.
The clique hadn't wished me a happy birthday but I didn't mind. I was glad they had forgotten. Apparently the theme was The Royals. So we all helped each other get ready. I was wearing an emerald green with nude lace-over gown that had a slit up my right thigh that widened from the slit going to the bottom. Jess had on a mermaid styled strapless pink gown with a silver wrap and Bell had on a yellow ball gown with blue layers short at the front and a tail at the back. We were soon done and ready to go. The boys wore tuxedos. We were going to meet them at the venue.
When we get there, Enrique opens the door for us and the boys are waiting with arms out for us. Since Christian Gabriel joined our clique, he sort of became my partner at these events. I was nervous but more than anything, mesmerised. When we got to the door, we had glasses of champagne handed to us. I scanned the room seeing many people I know. There was a huge turn out and I was happy hoping that I would be able to encourage people to help more with charities.
The room had a huge dance floor in the middle with round tables surrounding the dance floor. It looked like it came out of a fairytale. It's how I imagined my matric dance would be; like a fairytale, dancing with my prince charming. Someone who would look at me in that special way and dance with me. Who would be a gentleman and join in the conversation. More importantly someone who loved me and whom I loved, sharing secret kisses stolen in the hallways, walking hand in hand and who would think I'm special enough to bring me a gift whether a corsage or bouquet of flowers.
But that was when I used to believe and now I don't because I could never have that. Once everyone was settled in, Landon, who invited me to speak tonight came up and took my hand in his as we walked up to the stage. Suddenly the lights went out and when it came back on everyone was standing and singing happy birthday to me. To say I was shocked was an understatement. Happy birthday banners were rolled down and the clique made their way to the stage with a cake on a trolley coming in. I never expected this. They were crazy. They knew I hated celebrating my birthday and yet they did this but my heart swelled with appreciation that they put together this surprise for me.
It was spectacular. The cake was my favourite; red velvet with a vanilla chocolate dancer on the top. No one had ever done something this special for me. When they reached me, I engulfed all of them in a group hug, with murmurs of thank you and happy birthday going around and after the group hug, was individual hugs. Christian Gabriel placed a tiara on my head. David popped the bottles as I blew out the candles. Bell and Jess helped me cut the cake and Michael fed me the first piece. I then fed each of them a piece and they fed me in return except for Christian Gabriel who said later. Afterwards, we returned to our table and began with the meal. I got a slice of the cake and was about to eat when Christian Gabriel sat next to me and the others went to check on some stuff.
