⋆⋅☆⋅⋆I PROMISED MYSELF THAT I wasn't going to make friends because of what happened just a few weeks ago. But my rule was slowly disintegrating beneath my finger tips as a few people slowly fell into the trap of curiosity.
Sam was a polar opposite of me, she was popular, had a bubbly personality. At first I didn't like her, the way she was so happy talking to other people, laughing and interacting with others.
But I think after I was told she was to be my partner for the week, I realized I envied her more then I had a reason too hate her.
She didn't do anything wrong to me, so why feel the need to blame her for having everything I couldn't have.
I couldn't do that. It was just the second day of school. Not only that, but she wasn't anything close to mean to me. I didn't have a reason to hate her.
This morning we were told we were going to be partners for a math project. If I'm being honest I don't remember exactly what the project was about, but what I do know is our teacher doesn't know how to shut the fuck up.
He's been talking all class about finals, the ones we aren't going to be expecting for months.
I wanted to pound my head against the table, maybe even throw my bag at his face and sprint out the door. But instead I decided on gently bouncing my leg up and down, hoping maybe the contact of my heel hitting the floor will cure my boredom.
"Pst..." I hear a hiss beside me, the sound grabbing my attention and keeping my boredom occupied.
"Yes?" I ask Sam, Ruder then I expected it to come out.
"Do you know what he's talking about?." She asks.
I look back to the front where the teacher is, seeing as he further explains the reason as to why studying is better for our brain, rather then watching videos on our devices.
As soon as he lectures us he makes a path to his desk and informs the class his wife had just sent him a video of a cat playing with a roll of tape.
He's one to talk.
I roll my eyes and look back at Sam. "No clue. I don't even think he knows what he's talking about."
She laughs quietly, looking back at him. "Yeah you're right." She smiles looking back at her paper. "By any chance are you free at lunch? I would love for you to sit with me and my friend."
The thought returns, warning me that getting too close to someone could lead to more pain then it needs too.
"I actually have something to do at lunch, you know the whole- catch up on work I missed- stuff." She nods her head in understanding as the bell signals for class to be dismissed.
"Okay well, if you ever change your mind there's always a seat waiting for you." I smile in appreciation, before slinging my tote bag over my shoulder and walking out the classroom.
It was mean of me to decline, but it was also logical for me to say no.
I didn't lie, I do have stuff to catch up on. But it's just stuff I don't plan on doing.
I walk into the science classroom, nostalgia from yesterday hitting me like a truck.
Fuck, I forgot about him.
