⋆⋅☆⋅⋆WALKING DOWN STAIRS i can't help but smile at Kai's excitement. He's been waiting a long time for today, and for some reason i can feel the joy radiating off his body.
"Can you believe it?!." He laughs dashing face forward into the couch. "i'm this much closer to becoming a teenager." He pinches his fingers together before sitting up straight.
I used to be the same way.
I wish i could go back and tell myself not to wish to grow up so fast. I didn't realize what i had lost till i lost it, and yet it seemed like a cannon event for every child to want to be older.
The grass was more green twelve years ago, and the smiles around me felt more real then they tend to be now. But i guess it's adult hood.
Things are supposed to change and grow. And we're stuck with the person we were years ago still living deep inside of us.
I would do anything to go back.
"You don't actually mean that." I state, walking over to the living room table to grab all the gifts off of.
"Oh yes i do!. The older i am the more ladies i get." He smirks.
"Keep saying that and i'll kill you before you even turn twelve." His eyes widen before he surrenders.
"Okay i'm sorry! i won't say it again." I'm about to sit down beside kai before the doorbell rings.
There are two options as to who it could be.
One, my father who apparently is out of town again this week. Or two, my mother who had to pick up day shift.
I felt bad for Kai, i know he wanted them here today considering it was his birthday and all. Nobody likes just having just one person singing you happy birthday.
"Who is it?." Kai asks, leaning against the couch to get a better view of the front door.
I shrug opening the door, and as soon as i do i think to myself maybe today there will be two people singing happy birthday.
"Hey princess, where's lil bro?." I squint my eyes in confusion with a smile. His red hair is down and his hands are occupied by a gift bag and balloons.
When Kai realizes who it is he comes running towards the door. "Yo Hawk!, what are you doing here?."
I move aside so Eli can step in, confusion and a new feeling of satisfaction bubble inside of me.
He's doing something for Kai.
"Dude, i had to come visit you on your birthday." He ruffles Kai's hair before handing him his gifts.
In a way his kind gesture healed something inside of me. A question that needed to be validated if i did i want to take a step more.
He cares about Kai, and Kai is the only thing my heart will ever prioritize.
"How did you know when my birthday was?." Kai asks in confusion.
