EUNICE VERGARA

We could count the remaining days before our midterm exam in just one hand which explains why the library period becomes the most crucial part of our daily activity. In normal days, this vacant time was spent in leisure, strolling, napping, or playing on the gym, but these days, the library is one of the most over crowded facility of the school.

In front of me was Vanessa who was arranging her notes earlier, but is now staring outside the window just behind me. Bailey on my right was solving equations I gave her to practice. I, on one hand am filling up my planner for next week very carefully, including the trivial matters such as my study, rewrite, and review sessions as I tidy up my schedule.

"About Teejay's girlfriend..." Vanessa broke the silence, not taking off her eyesight on whatever is keeping her attention outside the window.

"Have you met her yet?" She continued and I just nodded. I felt Bailey lift her head to see my response then proceeded to finish her personal task.

"Teejay introduced her to you?" The curiosity in her voice did not escape my ears and when I looked at her, her orbs were still as emotionless.

"No. Why would he introduce her girls to me?" That's just unnecessary. I could not imagine if I have befriended his girlfriends before, having to deal with them after their break up would just stress me to heavens!

"So she talked to you? Approach you or anything?" She continued her queries. I put my pen down when I filled up the box below the Friday column before closing my planner.

I took the chance to survey the surrounding for a second, and most of them are minding their own business burning their eyebrows in exchange of having to understand what they are studying.

"No. One of her classmates told me she's not surrendering her phone, and when I caught her using it in the middle of class, I had to act on it." I put out my chemistry notes to scan them, so it would be easier to arrange them later at home.

"And then? What happened?" Bailey, now giving me her full attention, disregarding the remaining numbers she needed to finish. I pushed her hands away when I saw her biting her ballpen's cap.

"Teejay talked to me that afternoon. I gave her phone back." I said and searched for the necessary books inside my bag.

I heard Vanessa's intentional sigh.

"You should have turned it over to the faculty." I glanced at Bailey and snatched her notebook from the table to see how much she had accomplished for her to be distracted freely.

"I was planning to return it anyway. I could not turn it over after the third warning. You're being careless again Bailey." I turned to my right and pointed at the item she overlooked. She just nodded as I try to explain how it was done properly.

"Why? What's the problem Van?" I asked her as she remained troubled.

She shook her head lazily. "Nothing."

I tried to turn to see what she was looking at behind me, but all I saw were the empty corridors on the second floor and several students resting on the bleachers consuming light snacks.

"I think Liana's kind though. And she's cute." She's not as aggressive as Teejay's past girlfriends, so I have a good feeling about her. Also, she was the longest Teejay had dated so far. They started seeing each other two months ago at the beginning of our summer vacation.

The rest of the details of their love story are already beyond my perception. The only important thing to take note is that they seem to go strong and not taking into consideration their recent argument which unfortunately I have witnessed, I could be certain that Teejay's happy with her.
