I sat back in my seat as mom drove me around Tiverside. I sat in the passenger seat near the radio next to mom. We were on a road trip to see what else is out there in the country. There was barely any traffic so we could pick up the pass a little as we went. It was sorta hot with cold wind when I laid my head against the half open window. Mom stared straight ahead as she was driving. There wasn't any music playing but all I heard was the cool wind flowing through my ears.

"Sweetie, are you ready to go back to school in two days?" Mom breaks the silence. I shook my shoulders and picked my head up from the window.

"Meh, not really. I mean it's school. I just wanna stay home with you and sleep." I continued to talk as I reached to turn on the radio. "Well, you'll have plenty of time for that." I look out the window. Mom leans back in her seat.

"I think you'll do great this year, Sweetie." She smiles at me and I smile back.

"Mom, all I really want this year is to spend time with you as much as possible." Mom puts her hand on my cheek and gives me a loving smile.

"Aw, Sweetie, I love you." she puts her hands back on the steering wheel and reaches up to adjust the mirror. "Thank you for always being there for me, when I need you." She smiles in the mirror and back on the road.

"Oh Sweetie, whenever you're having a hard time, always remember to stay positive and take deep breaths. That always helps me." I look back out the window and back at mom. "I know. You tell me all the time, Mom."

I look in front of us, a black car moving directly towards us. Mom looked at me but not on the road. The car was moving way too fast and mom wasn't paying attention.

"Mom! Look out!"
