Mom stepped on the brakes, but the black car smashes us and our car flips over and I hear a gunshot next to me. My heart stopped. I close my eyes. I kept them closed until the car stopped.
I was still alive. My heart was racing and I couldn't move right away. The second I squint to open my eyes, I see shards of broken glass in the windshield spots of blood. There were pieces of car all over my lap. I was afraid to move, so I didn't. The window next to me was shattered.
I glanced to my left, and I saw mom just laying there with blood all over her.
I couldn't believe my eyes. I look away, but I gaze back immediately. Tears formed in my eyes and I couldn't stop crying. There were shards of glass and cuts all over her. Her face was covered in spots of blood and she had blood on the bottom of her nose.
I closed my eyes but all I felt was tears filling my face and my nose was wet with blood as well. I felt drained.
"Mom! Mom. Please, no. Not now. Please stay with me, Mom please!" I put my head on her arm but no movement. She didn't wake up.
"I'm going to call the ambulance!" I reached into my pocket for my cell phone and pressed the button to power on. I was about to dial the number, and mom suddenly grabbed my arm.
"Go get help." she says weakly. Her hand rested on my arm. I look at her.
"What?" I whispered out loud. Mom smirks at me and her mouth begins to slowly move.
"Go get help, I want you to go. Without me." This couldn't be happening. I couldn't move or do anything except cry.
"Not without you, I c- can't l-leave you, Mom." I struggle to speak and squeeze my eyes again. More tears filled my face and I couldn't stop. Mom carefully squeezed my arm again.
"It'll be okay, I promise. Just go find help. You can do it. But remember, to always stay positive. Believe in yourself." Mom puts a silver, golden locket in my hand and cups my hand with hers.
"I'll always be with you. I love y-yo-." mom's words stop and her mouth stops moving. Next thing that happens, she shuts her eyes and passes out.
I gave her one last kiss and whispered in her ear.
"I love you too."
It was too late to call the ambulance. I couldn't move, or stop crying. But I forced my legs to move. I pushed the car door open and it fell off the hinges. Our car was destroyed. Crawled down onto the grass and slowly stood up. I walk to the trunk of the car to grab my bike. All of mom's bags were still in the trunk, filled with shards of glass too. I saw her purse with her stuff still zipped up. But I grabbed my backpack and walked with my bike.
I couldn't help but look back, so I stopped to stare back with tears in my eyes again. I felt tipsy and my legs were sore. My eyes were puffy and my nose was bleeding. Two cuts on my arm and one on my leg. I felt dead inside.
After the next step I took, I heard a noise in the woods to my right. I thought for a moment I saw something in the corner of my eye but it was hard to see due to my vision.
I couldn't move for a split second. Then I see a bright yellow light in front of me with the sound of a car behind me, and then footsteps. The next thing I felt was a cold hand on my shoulder.
