Tsu'tey and I were destined mates, or at least that's what our parents told us. Being promised to one another from birth had us both feeling trapped, especially when neither of us could ever see the other romantically. Talk about a loveless marriage. We were good friends but never destined to be together, he was even in love with another woman.
There had to have been a way to get out of this for both of us, and that's when Tsu'tey thought of the perfect plan to trick our parents. Tsu'tey's parents initially thought that I was in love with him while he was in love with someone else and therefore he was to blame and forced to carry through with the affair. So in order to prove we were both in love would be a demonstration of the will of Eywa, for the great mother would never force people to be together.
Then the only problem was finding a man who would pretend to date me for long enough to convince my parents that I was in love. Enter Jake Sully, he was perfect for the role, with the perfect amount of care, and romance, he was even funny. Every single woman was also in love with him, and the bigger challenge would be keeping me from following suit. Tsu'tey agreed that he was the man for the job, the only problem was actually finding the nerve to talk to Jake.
I was wandering around Hometree determined to find him only to see him being tended to by 3 other women.
"Uh, Jake?" I asked. He was giggling with one of the women, as he threw me a side glance and decided he wasn't interested.
"Jake," I repeated. He then broke off the conversation and glanced over.
"Yeah?" He asked, an annoyed expression on his face as if he didn't recognize me.
"Can I talk to you?" I asked, gaining confidence. He let out an aggravated sigh, as he turned to touch the cheek of the woman he was talking to and gave her a promising smile. His hand dropped from her cheek as he began to stand to follow me, he was taller than I expected, towering over me. His skin was a light blue and the jewelry his muscles adorned drew my eyes around different spots on his body. He clearly took notice.
"Um, you wanted to talk to me?" He was smirking as my eyes returned to his. I shook my head out of embarrassment, or maybe it was to distract myself from his body.
"Right, uh-follow me," I turned on my heel bringing him to a private clearing outside of home tree so he couldn't distracted by another beautiful woman. I stopped and turned around to face him as he stopped and looked at me curiously, god he looked even better in the moonlight.
"Okay, don't freak out," I started hesitantly not knowing what his reaction was going to be. He then gave me a look like he was expecting me to continue.
"You know how Tsu'tey and I are supposed to mate soon?" He gave a little laugh.
"Oh, yeah. That freaky royal family stuff, what a bummer for Tsu'tey," He kept laughing as I glared at him.
"Anyway, he's in love with someone else, and I've never really liked him so we thought up a plan so that we can trick our parents into interpreting the will of Eywa as not wishing us to be together," I tried explaining slowly to help him understand my urgency.
"The only problem is that we both have to appear in love to fool our parents," I gave him a wide-eyed, suggestive look as I looked him up and down quickly. He clearly took the hint as he was smiling and opened his mouth a bit as he put a couple of fingers over his mouth in shock.
"So let me understand this, you want me to pretend to date you so that Tsu'tey can be with a different woman and you can trick your parents?" I let out a sigh of relief as he finished walking through the plan.
"Yes! Exactly," I said, feeling relieved that he seemed interested.
"Yeah, no. I'm not doing that," He said and began to walk away. My arms shot down in panic as I caught his arm in my grip.
