Your POV:
I needed help, I was in serious trouble with nowhere to go. I had run away from my father, the chief of the Metkyina because he had gone on a rampage while killing tukun and destroying our village. The clan had dispersed far and wide to escape his clutches as my brother and I were desperate to seek refuge. The only place I could think to go where he could never find us was to the Omaticaya, deep in the forest and too busy battling with the Sky People to see us as an enemy.
We had traveled all through the night along the coast and ultimately walked until we could find the Omaticaya, since we couldn't ride Ikrans. All night long as we walked my head was spinning with ideas on how to save my brother and I, yet I kept coming up blank.
"Are we there yet?" Aonung called out to me. He was falling behind several feet and it was clear he was tired. Little brothers were the worst.
"No, come on," I reached back and grabbed his arm pulling him up to my side as he grunted out in annoyance. He peeled my hand off his arm dramatically as I rolled my eyes.
"I bet we are closer than we think," I said, and in fact just as I said that we made it to a clearing where we were able to see the top of the home tree. I remember hearing about it from the other clans, it truly was impressive. I pointed over to it and hit Aonung's arm to get his attention. He gazed up sleepily, fighting the tiredness in his eyes and let out a happy laugh when he saw how close we were.
"Told you so," I said, and even though I was 6 years older than him, teasing him never got old.
"Shut up," he said, "I just need to sleep," He slurred out lazily.
"It's only a couple miles, we should be there soon," I said, trying my best to comfort him as he leaned into my shoulder.
Sure enough we were there in about an hour and half after hiking through the dense forest surrounding us. We slowly approached the tree, fully expecting to be captured or surrounded or both, and sure enough just as we could see the entrance a trip wire sprung loose and caught my brother and I in a high net. My heart dropped into my stomach as we struggled and tried to figure a way out, panicking and pushing against one another. The hoops and hollers of the people around us were loud, and frankly terrifying so we slowly gave up and submitted, holding our hands up in peace. They took notice of this and calmed before what must've been their chief arrived.
He was younger than expected, and looked a bit different then the rest of them, adorning five fingers and small hairs above his eyes. Sky people. This was Jake Sully, the famous clan leader who united the Na'vi against the enemy, immediately I was starstruck as he was over and inspected us through the gaze of the net. He must have decided we weren't a threat as he commanded the net to be cut down, and we collided hard with the forest ground. We quickly got back up and took in our surroundings, fear still looming over us.
"What are you called?" Jake called out and we answered with our names as he began to circle us, paying a lot closer attention to me.
"Why have you come?" He asked another question as my brother and I exchanged a somber look and stood at a loss for words. He took that as a sign, "You will tell me later." He pointed at me while he said this, and I pushed my shoulders back in pride. Aonung rolled his eyes at me in annoyance.
"For now, welcome to home tree. Get changed and pick a hammock," he gestured towards my brother before returning his attention back to me, "You will follow me." He began to walk away meaning he must've desired me to follow, but before I went I gave my brother a long hug and told him I'd be back soon. He gave me a confident hug before being scooped up by other young na'vi prancing around.
Jake was a quick walker as we moved through the home tree, and it quickly became clear that serious adjustment was going to have to come into play. His skin was alive and glowing reacting to the forest air, as my turquoise skin remained relatively muted, not used to the environment. We were strolling along the side of nice canopies as I wondered what he was taking me, and it soon became clear we were close to where he lived. He then turned a corner into the largest canopy, which of course belonged to him as Toruk Makto. I took in the pictures and decorations laced around the wall and let a smile cross my face, Jake turned around to watch me with a confused expression.
