A few days ago, I was asked by Gundham if I'd like to go over his for another sleepover. Obviously I said yes. Any chance to be with him is a good one. However, I'm supposed to be feeling happy to go over there.
Instead, there's a putrid feeling in my stomach.
"Kaz, I'm off to go see Gundham," I exclaim, clutching in an effort to make to shooting pains go away.
"Oki doki! Be safe!" he yells back. I hear a female voice from beyond the living room door, piquing my curiosity.
I peek through the door and spot him cuddling up to Ibuki on the sofa. I giggle, watching as he strokes her hair gently. Some anime that I can't quite make out is displayed on the screen in front of them, along with some sweet treat assortment perched delicately on the coffee table beside them. By the state of the kitchen, it seems they made them themselves.
My eyes light up and I stroll into the room. "Don't mind if I do," I chuckle, taking a green, misshapen mochi from the plate.
"Oh hi Koko!" they both chorus, not really caring that I just stole their hard work from beneath their noses.
"I'll be off now, cya soon!" I giggle, winking at Kaz. He growls at me, flushing pink, yet I know he's right where he wants to be.
Slipping on some plain black converses, hopping halfway out the door, I shout my final farewells to the two before shutting the door. I glance at the time on my phone. Eleven. Oops, I left a little earlier than intended. I've still got a whole hour to spare, it's only a ten minute walk to Gundham's house from town central.
I spot a small corner shop nearby in my peripheral vision. I decide to enter through its pretty pink door, stepping into a world of food. There's so much choice, goodness knows how they fit all these shelves and decor into such small interior. Hey, its the wonders of the universe, right?
I take my time, trying to waste the minutes away as I'm trying to keep myself busy at the thought of seeing Gundham soon. My feet tap excitedly. Scanning through each isle carefully, examining the prices, the colourful display of treats intrigues me. I don't get anything. The thing that catches my eye the most is the huge slushy machine with many flavours and colours.
My eyes gleam with excitement, yet it doesn't let the unsettling feeling in my stomach subside for some reason. Why wont it go away? I pick up a cup and find the most appealing looking slushies to buy, reading their labels and content before dispensing a little layer of each into the cup.
I glance at the nice ombre of slushy I'd created, smiling to myself as the colours bleed into one another, condensation spotting on the rim already. Before me in the queue is a woman purchasing four energy drinks. Rough time? Me too. I might ask for some over the counter pain killers to numb these horrible stabbing pains in my stomach. As I'm reminded of it, it spreads to my head too.
"Is everything ok miss?" the cashier inquired, cocking his head at me. "You've been stood there for quite some time now."
"Oh, sorry," I giggle, placing my slushy cup on the counter, condensation circling around the bottom.
He scans the drink and looks back up at me, beaming. "That'll be 400¥ please."
I slide the cash across the counter, the precise change. The whole world before me starts to swirl into a blur of colours and lines, and I almost black out. "Miss?"
"Sorry, sorry, I'll get going now," I chuckle awkwardly, grabbing my slushy and leaving.
As I exit the cute little corner shop, my headache begins to worsen. I frantically sip at my slushy in hopes to ease it, using it as a make-shift remedy of some sort, hoping it'd work. It didn't. The sugary syrup just makes me want to throw up more. I don't understand. Why am I feeling like this?
