Chapter 30

"I love you so much, my queen."

"I love you too, Hell Hound!"

"We shall be together forever, I promise."

And that was it. Once I wake up, the temporary illusion of happiness crawls back into the depths of my brain, dissolving back into a bitter, unattainable fantasy. The room fades back into that of Kazuichi's, and instead of being held in comforting arms, I'm struggling in the despairful chokehold of reality.

I find myself sobbing again. Letting it out into my pillow as an attempt to let Kazuichi sleep in and not worry, yet that man is a light sleeper so it fails. He sits up abruptly from his side of the bed, looking over at me huddled in the corner, clutching onto the pillow and crying into it.

"Aww Koko..." he murmurs, stroking my back gently with warm hands.

"I don't understand," I sob. "Why? Why did he do that??"

"Becuase clearly he's a selfish prick who can't think of anyone but himself," Kaz says, grunting as he sits up.

I turn to face him with tear-glazed eyes, cuddling into his side. I think of what could've possibly gone wrong. Were there any signs I missed? Signs of him getting bored of me? Signs of him and Sonia forming a romantic bond?? I try and think to myself, yet I'm unable to as my brain is jumbled up with the painful remembrance of him.

"Why Sonia? Why not me! It's because I'm not good enough for anyone! I never have been. She's so perfect and flawless and so much prettier but Gundham and I...we had something! Something I held so dearly to me..." I cry, my throat aching. "Or at least I think we had something special..."

"Koko...the two of you definitely had something special ok? We could all see it. He just decided to ruin it because he's a dick," he murmurs.

I lay there and sob for a couple more minutes, laying in the warmth of Kazuichi's comforting embrace, my sobs slowly dying down into little sniffles after being held gently for some time. Before long, I feel myself about to drift into a long sleep, the warmth from the bed and Kazuichi combined making me drowsy.

"Now that you've calmed down, I was fonna suggest bringing Ibuki, Mahiru and Chichi over so we could try and cheer you up...you've not been yourself for a while.

"...sure thing."

Kaz stretches and gets out of bed, reaching for his phone. He swiped and taps a couple of times before pressing it up to his ear.

"Hey my love!"

"Hihihi!! What is uuupppp?"

"Wanna come over today? Koko isn't feeling...great."

"Of course! I'll be there in a jiffy!"

"Thanks my love! Goodbye!!"

"Gooooodbyebye!!"

He sits back on the leg, swinging his legs and patting my head. I sit up. "Do I look OK?"

"Of course Koko! You always look great," he smiles, looking at me in my crumpled pyjamas and fucked up hair. Man, I love Kazuichi but he's not a great liar. "Right, do you want me to call Koi-icci and Chichi over too?"

"Mhm..."

He dials his phone again.

"Hey Koi-icci!"

"Oh hey Kaz! What's up?"

"Do you wanna come over? Koko's really not feeling the best at the moment."

"Oh...I'm so sorry but Chichi and I are out of town for a few days with our partners. I'm really sorry! Is she doing ok?"
