——————————————————————————————————————————Celine's POV:
"What do you do when your NHL team is eliminated from going to the playoffs and you can no longer go to every single game? You shop." I mumble to myself as I walk around one of San Jose's outdoor malls, glancing in different stores. It's frustrating when the team you invest basically your whole life into, all of your free time and money, doesn't make it as far as you hoped. And they hoped, too. I thought this would be San Jose's year, but I guess not. It's sad, but they always have next year for the playoffs. And hopefully a Stanley Cup in the near future.
I head to the food court after a while to get food, hungry after shopping for a while. I'm in the mood for Mexican food, and they have a little restaurant in the mall for Mexican food, so I go to that place. As I'm walking, I glance down at my phone to see an Instagram notification telling me that the Sharks just posted on Instagram. I'm about to open the post when I suddenly run into someone. "Oh, shit." I mumble, stumbling. I steady myself and look up at the person I ran into, my apology dying in my throat as I see who it is. "You've gotta be shitting me." Jonah aughs. "Sorry, I didn't mean to run into you. Instagram can be pretty distracting." My face immediately heats as it flushes. No kidding. "Yeah, it can be. I am so, so sorry about that." I apologize quickly as I come to my senses. "No, you're fine." He assures. "We we're both distracted, it happens. I'm Jonah, by the way." "I know." He looked at me shocked. "Uh, you do?" I realize how creepy that sounds. "Shit, sorry. I'm a huge Sharks fan, and you're one of my favorite players. I don't stalk you or anything, I promise. But it's really nice to meet you." I explain. He nods, smiling. "You, too. What's your name, by the way?" "Celine. Again, I am really sorry about running into you." "Like I said, it's not your fault. We both were focused on other things. Anyway, you from San Jose?"
I nodded. "Yup. Born and raised."Jonah's POV:
I smiled. "That's cool. I've only been here a few years, but it's an amazing city. I enjoy representing them when it comes to hockey." "And you really do. You carry that team sometimes and with your fights. Not to be mean to the others, but it's true." I shook my head. "I appreciate you thinking that, but I don't agree. Hockey's a team sport, and I do my job just like the rest of the guys do." I sigh. "Anyway, can you have your number? I'd really like to get to know you."Celine's POV:
My jaw quite literally drops open. "What?" I blurt in shock.
"Can I have your number?" He repeats. "Oh, shit. Um, yeah." I take his phone that he hands to me and type in my number, adding it as a contact. He smiles. "Great. Listen, I've got to go because I have to meet up with some of the guys, but I'll text you." He hugs me quickly, so quick that I don't even have time to react and hug him back, before walking away.- - - - -
