It was raining. I was out on a hunting patrol with; her mentor Cinderheart, and her father Birchfall.
Yesterday, when the patrol that found the trap she had set up for Dovepaw came into the camp, they had told Firestar and the deputy Brambleclaw what she had done. Once they left Firestar told the whole clan what she had done. Firestar had given her the punishment that she has to hunt for the elders for the next quarter moon. If any cat helps her that will will be punished as well.
"Ivypaw, go check if there's prey over there. If there is, bring back some will you?" Cinderheart asked, signaling with her tail wich way.
"Yes, Cinderheart."
Once I got to where she ment for me to go, I opened my mouth to smell for prey.
Cat. I smell cat. Dovepaw...Lionblaze...Jayfeather...Firestar...Brambleclaw. What are they doing? Their talking about something. It wouldn't hurt if I were to spy on them a little bit. It won't even be spying.
I crouched behind a bunch, and listened to what they were saying.
They we're sitting in a circle. Firestar was saying;
"Are you sure? I don't want to send you out there and then there's nothing there."
"There will be. I'm positive." Dovepaw said.
"Send a patrol of cats with her." Lionblaze suggested.
"Of course I will, I'm not going to send her out into the unknown by herself. I'm not mouse brained!" Firestar replied sarcastically.
Send her where? Where is Dovepaw going?
"Who will you send with her?"Jayfeather asked.
"Should we send cats from all the clans? This has everything to do with them to, they'll be mad if we leave them out." Brambleclaw asked Firestar.
"I agree. From us we'll send; Dovepaw, of course, and Lionblaze."
"What about Ivypaw?" Jayfeather asked.
"What about her?" Firestar asked.
"She's Dovepaws sister, shouldn't she come since Dovepaw is going?"
"No, Dovepaw can go without her. If that's alright Dovepaw. I hope you can understand why."
"Of course." Dovepaw responded.
What dose that mean?
"If your power is true, dose Ivypaw have one too?" Brambleclaw asked.
"No, I don't think so." Dovepaw said.
Power? What power? And why don't I have one?
"We need to be careful what we tell Ivypaw. Exspeshally now." Lionblaze said.
"Agreed." They all said except for Dovepaw.
"Dovepaw?" Firestar asked.
"I don't want to lie to her." She said.
"We have no other choice." Firestar said.
Dovepaw sat in thought for a moment, before she responded;
"Fine."
