Palette exited the portal, alongside the grim reaper. He let out a shaky sigh as he clutched the fabric wrapped around his neck. He had to find that crown.. but he had no idea if Goth would be alright. He sent Death an anxious glance.
"I've been meaning to search this AU anyways. I have a feeling there is someone I've been meaning to reap here but I haven't been able to locate her." Reaper explained with a shrug, glancing around. "Maybe it's just the grim vibes of this place." The younger gulped. His mind immediately shot to his grandmother, who wasn't exactly alive nor dead. Almost stuck in a terrifying.. limbo.
The castle was as dark as usual, the dimly lit purple walls and dark tiles made the gentle glow of the occasion light only ominous; turning a corner seemed to be a gamble in itself. Who knows what kind of being you could face in the dark? The very walls themselves seemed to ooze with pain and sorrow. Similar to the forest that Palette had to face. He felt his eyes well up now that he had time to take a breath and truly absorb the magic to consume.. it wasn't good.
He took a step, swallowing his fear. He almost wanted to hold Reaper's hand but.. that was a bad idea obviously.
"Well, good luck Roller. High five." Reaper joked, holding his hand up. Palette went to slap his hand in a soothing manner but immediately stopped when he realized that he had totally missed the joke. Reaper gave a light laugh, giving a firm nod to Palette.
The teenager set off, his footsteps were light but slow. The god behind him couldn't help but snicker as he went to look for the lost soul. Palette sent a quick prayer to whatever higher deity was listening that Reaper would hopefully never find Nim.
With his soul thumping out of his chest, he cleared his throat. The protagonist adjusted his hat as he attempted to march on in a fearless manner. He wouldn't let negativity get to him! He.. he just had to get the crown, find Nim and get out. That's it. Dream would never have to know. Right?
Although, as Palette blindly tip toed through the halls he came face to face with a problem..
He had no clue where the hell he was going.
"Right.. okay. This is fine. This is all good.." Palette whispered quietly to himself, attempting to break the silence that made him extremely uncomfortable. Even the lack of noise seemed to be laced with hurt.
"What did Horror say?.. turn ... right at... the second hall?" Palette blinked, muttering lowly as he scrunched up his face. He couldn't... seem to remember the exact words. He gulped. Whatever, that sounded about right. He pushed forward, trotting through the insanity inducing halls..
Along one of the corridors, a line of portraits caught his attention. A range of different faces flooded Palette's vision. Underneath had title cards, explaining who they were and what their name was.
'Crown Prince, Crescent'
'Prince Raider of chaos'Things of that kind.
Palette's star pupils burnt holes into the looks of all of these unfamiliar beings. Did Nightmare have children? Did he have cousins!? If.. If he did, did he treat them well? His eyes fell upon the final portrait. A little girl who was named 'Smudge'. She was apparently "a weapon of poison" as well as being a princess. He shrugged, continuing further.
Palette came across another hall, glancing up. Lots and lots of rooms. They were probably the rooms of the children he saw earlier. Palette was definitely lost... but now he was incredibly curious. He poked his head through one door and was immediately greeted with an untimely sight.
A room that had a large.. large knife collection above the bed. Who the hell was sleeping when your skull could be shattered any moment!? It was as dark as the rest of the halls so it was hard to truly see. But the shimmering of dull, blunt, sharp, piercing, wide, small, thin, large knives was enough for Palette to mind his damn business again. He pulled himself out of the room and sped up his walking speed slightly.
