A few days later.
Eron slashes his sword down and it just missed it's opponent, he swung the heavy sword once more and it clashed with its rivals, creating a horrible sound that echoed through the arena. The sound barly hitting his ears as he swung the sword again, hitting the metal arma of the opponent and bright blood splattered on the blade. I painful grunt from the enemy, the blade of the opponent slashed towards him but he jumped back, despite the heavy and clunky arma he bore, it didn't cause a scratch. Eron charged and raised his blade and knocked the opponent over, "oof!" His enemy grunted but then laughed. Eron lower and sheived his sword, helping the soldier up, who sheived his own weapon. "You actually got me this time" Holm chuckled, taking his helmet off and walking to the healers post, outside the training area.
"Well with your old age, it isn't that hard anyway" Eron joked, taking his own helmet off. Holm, although older in age, is one of the best generals in the Magnetite kingdom, and Erons personal trainer.Holm has taken Eron into his command when his father basically dragged him to the army the moment he found out that he was immortal. Being immortal was far different from what Eron would think, instead of being immune to illness, pain or killing blows, he does die but he finds himself in a void like space until a blinding light appears and he returns from the dead. But he has o my dies twice in jis life, once when his father was on a drunken rage and another to the plague that has thankfully died down. "I'm not that old" Holm joked back after sitting down for the healer to tend to the slash on his side.
"You sure?" Eron teased, "you sure has slowed down lately" he commented.
"The cold of the winter is no good for my joints" Holm challenged, "anyway now that your training is finished for the day I think there's a messenger for you in the barracks" he informed with a dismissive wave."Really?" Eron got up and headed for the barracks, putting his helmet away but kept the armor on as he saw the messenger wating patently. "Yes?" Eron asked as he approached the messenger.
"The king has asked for your presence" the messenger nodded her head respectively, "follow me" she left the barracks and entered the main doors of the castle. Eron followed, his armor clanking as he walked, the halls were full of decorative paintings and vases with fresh flowers. The messenger opened the rich wooden doors of the throne room and left once he walked in. The king, king Alon, sat on his throne with his queen, queen Dora, next to him and his council members sitting on the chairs that lined the walls in an formal fashion."Welcome young soldier" the king smiled when he saw Eron. He bowed infront of his king and looked up to hear what he requested him to show.
"Your majesty" he stood up from his knee and waited for his words.
"If you haven't heard we had an alliance made with the Opul kingdom, we are preparing for war" he started and then continued explaining. "This war will bring new territory for us and the king of Opul would like to see you in our visit to make the first of the war plans. Tonight we are travelling to king Devon's castle, meet us in the courtyard at sunset, we'll have your horse ready for you" he finished, looking at Avon who felt a pride bubble from inside him. (King Avon wants me to travel with him, no doubt that I'm joining just because of my immortality, but still what an honour) he thought.
"I will meet you there your majesty" he bowed again and left to the barracks."Back so soon?" Holm asked, taking an alcohol drink and offering Eron one.
"No thanks, the king wants me to travel with him tonight" Eron said proudly, taking off his armor and putting his casual cloths on and rested with the other soldiers.
"Oh really? He must be taking his usual group of soldiers with him and you as a plus one" Holm suggested, taking another sip of his drink, "where you heading?".
"To Opul kingdom, there's gonna be a new war for new territory" Eron explained.
"Good, we need it after that harsh winter, most of the livestock died skinny and no crops survived from what I hear" Holm shrugged and headed of to his bunk.
"Yeah... gotta be the coldest winter, ever" Eron agreed and packed a stachual for the trip. The sun began to set and Eron left with his armor and sword, his stachual wrapped loosely around his neck and rested on his hip, above his sword. Walking into the courtyard, he could he how packed it was, at least 50 other soldiers. "Here's your horse sir Eron" one of the servents spoke whistle handing the rains over to him. His large mustang huffed as the role armor clearly iched his strawberry coloured pelt. "Thank you" Eron took the rains and mounted, wating in the formation that was beginning to form infront of the gate. The king made his signal once he looked satisfied and they rode down the path and into the city. They passed all the shops and houses that sat next to the main road as the hoofs of their horses cloped on the gravel and eventually they made their way to the city's gates and their horses all trotted out of the draw bridge.
Riding on the old road into the forest were they'll be going through for the rest of the night until just after sunrise they should make it to the other side, where they could see the border of Opul kingdom and Magnetite kingdom. They ride the thin road through the forest for hours, the moonlight glittering through the branches. (It sure is peaceful in the forest tonight, it's beginning to warm upnas well) Eron smiled and continued trotting at the end of the formation. The only sound that echoed through the woods was the sounds of the hoofs of the horses and their huffs and whines. Eron could just about see the gold armor of King Aron, his ruby's shined and glittered with the moonlight. (I wonder what the Opul kingdom would be like) he wondered, trotting down the path, (I heard they were wealthy, much wealthier then Magnetite kingdom anyway).
After the long ride through the woods in the night, the sun rose up behind the large hills and mountin in the far distance. His horse whined in tiredness of the trot, as Eron looked around he saw that it was the same for all the horses. "We shall camp here for the morning, rest up, by sun fall we should be there" King Aron called and everyone dismounted. Eron followed, helping to make the campfires and cook the food that they all packed. "Eron" King Aron greeted as he sat down.
"Your majesty" he bowed his head and took a bite out of the food he heated with the fire.
"Your first mission correct?" Aron asked and sat when one of the other soldiers brought him a fallen tree to use as a seat.
"Yes" Eron nodded and continued eating, he could see his light brown hair begin to cover one of his eyes. (I should get a hair cut once this is over) he thought finishing his meal.
