"Shouldn't we talk away from him?" King Vulmur half scolded.
"No, he already knows how we feel about him and it's best if he's here. He will never licen to us as he hasn't seen the horror that Devon is, he needs to see it for himself. So let him go, keep a close eye on him and let him back once he's willing to admit he was wrong" Ovirel explained and ended with a bow. King Vulmur nodded, he thought for a while and looked at Eron from top to bottom. (What!? Do they really think that I will fall for that? Devon is innocent!) Eron narrowed his eyes but then the King called a gard. Not any gard but a genral Eron knows the name of. "Wyn take him to the border, leave him and don't give him his old armour or anything that stays here" King Vulmur ordered and Eron felt another burst of anger. (What!? Theaf!) Eron cursed in his head but followed the genral without a word.Eron was directed onto a cart and the whole ride, 4 hour ride, he kept quiet. He didn't want to say anything that would reverse the sudden mercy that set him free. (I will miss Mia though) Eron thought, as he saw what he thought was the large river that bordered the Eastern North of the Opul territory. "Hey" Wyn spoke as he cute the ropes around his hands, "think about what we said, please" he looked hopeful but Eron saw he was pushing it away.
"... I will" Eron promised, "but I'm not promising betraying them ok?" He added.
"I'll take that you'll at least licen" Wyn smiled, "maybe I'll see you". Wyn took the cart back to the road, riding off and Eron was left alone next to the raging river.Eron walked the road to the bridge, the simple prison clothing was cold and not able to fight back any wind. He shivered as he wondered blindly on the unfamiliar roads, he took multiple turns and it felt as if he was walking in circles. (Ok think, where would any of the Opul or Magnetite camps be? I have to be careful, if any Garnet or Copper soldiers see me. They should recognise the prison uniform and they will capture me again) Eron thought, looking for any sign of any camps. (Ok so that road has stail hoof prints, this one has fresh prints... where's Strawberry!) Eron remembered the big, goofy mustang. He whistled and whisled but nothing, (oh Strawberry is at the Garnet kingdom, once they realise all he'll do is buck they'll do something. Either sell him or just kill him! I want my horse back!) Eron paniced and whistled once more.
There was nothing, he was truly alone on the road and the tracks went on for hours. The sun was threatening to set by the time Eron saw a sign of what is close. "So it looks like north is Garnet kingdom and south is... a town, that'll do" Eron read outloud.
"Yeah it will prisoner" the mocking voice of Holm laughed behind him. Him and three other soldiers looked at him amused. "I was sent to look for you, you didn't return after that battle. Looks like you handled yourself through".
"More or less" Eron shrugged, being to full of relief and overwhelming happiness to care about the looks of the soldiers he grew up with gave him.
"Get on, I can take you back to our camp" Holm ordered, "where's Strawberry? I heard you whistling for him".
"At the... Garnet castle, he followed me there when they captured me" Eron confessed, "I'm honestly worried about him". Holm trotted south west, his old mustang still as strong as ever."He'll be fine, he's still wild at heart so he'll find his way home" Holm comfort. His horses trot slowly turned to a canter, they travelled until midnight. Then Eron heard singing and laughing of so many familiar voices. (Serverud, Muck, Iep, Dug, Duke, Johan, Hugo, Milko, Gidi, Alon, Garen, Wat, Carg) Eron could name every soldier in this camp, (oh and Yven and Jaro with genral Holm). The feeling of hope and unmeasurable happiness to his old friends again after the month with the elven king and the four days in that cell was priceless. "Hey Eron! Nice to see you, turns out you have a side business" Wat joked and Eron already knew where this was going. "Since when was you a whore? A whore for elf King's?" The mocking tone with a playful grin, never made Eron feel so at home.
"Ha ha" Eron sat down, "very funny you should be a comedian" he joked with him.
"Yeah Holm told us that you two are actually together? Want to explain?" Wat asked, giving him a plate full of the food he never realised he missed.
"Yeah, he had an interest in me from the start and we grew close quickly" Eron shrugged, "can we not talk about that for now I want to know how you all are doing".
"We're all doing great, been a while since we could do something more then gard duty" Wat explained, leaning back and looking strangly at him. "How did they get you?" He asked.
"I was making sure everyone was getting out of that city safely, they must have saw a slim chance and they took it. They then tortured me to try and get answers" Eron explained, not mentioning the traitorous side.
"Assholes!" Dug spat, "genral I'll get the letter ready" he added to Holm. Holm nodded and sat next Eron with the campfire.
