Adeptai: Mother of Life.

Several months have passed since the baby had been born, She looked so much like Y/N that she felt nothing but relief, This would allow her and her daughter to hide much easier from the Fatui, but with how long its been, she hopes they've left her and her daughter for Dead.  Ah yes..Y/N had decided to name her daughter Mo Chou which means free of Sadness.. but Y/N nicknamed her Momo to shorten it down for the little bubble of Joy.

Y/N was sitting in the fields on a bright and sunny day with momo laying in her lap and giggling as butterflies float by them, Y/N didn't know how to react when she was named the Mother of Life.. it was odd..different and terrifying to her, She was even given a new Element to use to aid her new lord, his very own wind elemental powers from Barbatos..his words still echoed in her mind as she stared down at Momo with adoration in her eyes.

'You are the foundation of strength and determination, a pillar of life and gentle nature despite your past, your hands covered in blood but never for the wrong reasons...' 

 She replayed what Zhongli said in her mind over and over again with a sigh of gratification, ever thankful for his help and trust... her weapon that she was given was a spear, allowing her nimble movements with devastating power with her wind abilities and supposedly she was supposed to meet her new partner in her duty today... but almost three hours have gone by and Y/N knew she'd need to feed her daughter soon; Glancing around she made sure no one was around before pulling her robes down from her shoulder, making sure her fur Shawl was covering herself as she lifted Momo up, allowing the baby to start drinking the milk with relief.

"Such a hungry girl you are yes... I don't know where this new friend is at but I think I should take--"

"And who do you speak of exactly woman?" A man asked from behind her, Y/N didn't flinch and slowly glanced back, her eyes narrowed with hostility until she saw black and green hair with golden eyes staring her down, her partner that she was supposed to meet.

"Ah, you're three hours late you understand." Y/N said as she turned her head away from him, the man Scoffed at her, not aware of the baby as he walked around and knelt down in front of her in irritation.

"And you are clearly a lazy Adeptai... Sitting here and not working to slay the monsters around the city under our protection!"

 He growled before he twitched his ears as he heard the sounds of a grunting baby, Making him look down and yank the Fur Shawl out of the way. This made Y/N flush bright red and yelp as she kicked Xiao away with her foot, sending him skidding across the ground.

"You disgraceful pervert!! How dare you remove my Shawl and expose me and my child like that!!"

 Y/N snarled in anger as she adjusted the Shawl and began to Calm the spooked baby down in her arms.  Xiao grunted in pain as he slowly sat up while rubbing his now bruising chest, He shockingly felt dazed from a kick like that and didn't expect her to hit as hard as she did. Wait...Child??? Xiao thought as he sat up quickly to stare at Y/N and Momo with wide eyes, Was this what Rex Lapis meant by her being the Mother of life?? she's an actual mother AND an Adeptai??? Y/N continued to glare in his direction with a bright red face, He slowly began to realize that he had just exposed her bare chest out in the open...all because he heard her child....oh....no.... Xiao thought as he turned bright red himself and puffed up as he turned away from Y/N quickly with his arms crossed.

"I apologize. If it helps, I wasn't trying to stare at you. I heard your child and got caught by surprise. Nothing More or Less." Xiao stated as he kept his back to Y/N, not exactly wanting to show that he just humiliated himself and practically made things uncomfortable between them.

Y/N on the other hand stared at him before she adjusted her robes and Shawl, she then stood up with Momo in her arms and walked over next to Xiao, watching as he flinched, as if he was waiting to be yelled at or hit again...It was clearly obvious that he was humiliated but just didn't want to make it worse which was honestly kind in Y/N's eyes.  With a sigh, she leaned her shoulder on his while staring out in the fields.

"You're forgiven, and I'm sorry for kicking you  like that, you surprised me and I thought you were--"

"I have no interest in the bodies of men or women like that. I am a tool and nothing more or less."  

Xiao cut her off before slowly glancing at Momo who was grunting again in Y/N's arms, He watched as Momo stretched and snuggled up into Y/N's chest more while looking around at everything, all until her eyes locked onto his, This made Momo Stare at Xiao as if awe struck before she giggled loudly at him and tried to reach for him.

"What....is she doing?" Xiao asked while still staring at Momo, one brow arched in confusion as Y/N began to giggle a little.

"She likes you, and wants to hold your hand or something." Y/N said, she honestly felt shocked that her own daughter took a liking to a stranger this quickly, Normally she would Shy away from people unless it was Zhongli or Aether...never liked Paimon and would keep trying to eat her for some reason......Y/N was quickly snapped out of her thoughts as she watched Xiao slowly lift a gloved hand up to Momo, his eyes widening even more as Momo hugged onto his hand and slowly cooed with joy.  It became clear that this was the first time Xiao had EVER touched an infant before because h is eyes were filled with such wonder and curiosity and an unwillingness to move for fear of hurting Momo in some way.

"Her name is Mo Chou if you're curious" Y/N said to Xiao, making him freeze a little and glance at Y/N; the wonder in his eyes never leaving as he slowly nodded his head to her.

"I've never..touched a mortal infant before...I knew humans were fragile but...this is..VERY fragile...how do they survive to adult hood like this?" Xiao asked as he kept looking   to Y/N for answers to these questions, Which she did as she sat back down on the ground, forcing Xiao to sit with her since Momo refused to release his hand from her now sleeping grasp.

"Parents take care of the child all the way until they reach adulthood, and then the child who grew up goes to explore the world and eventually decide to start their own families if they wish to do so. right now Mo Chou is a few months old. So she needs all my attention to ensure she grows big and strong."  Y/N explained while watching Xiao go back to staring at Momo with a little glimmer in his eyes, as if silently absorbing all this information with a touch of hidden glee. What other wonders did he not know about Mortals and their offspring? To teach to grow strong? To teach the ways of the world around them? It would explain the fragility and corruption of the world yes...but oddly enough, he didn't want momo here to be taught with fragility and corruption..but it wasn't his choice...it was Y/N and the fathers choice....wait...

"Where.. is her father?" Xiao asked without thinking before he gasped quietly, instantly yelling at himself mentally for asking such a personal question..what was wrong with him??

"She...doesn't have one. That man...is a monster." Y/N answered with honest as she nuzzled into Momo gently with a hum.

"And if he ever comes sniffing around...I will kill him to protect my daughter.."
