"What do you mean you're having second thoughts? Akemi, you can't be serious. This is no time to start rethinking your career choice, sweetheart."

As she spoke to her sister, admitting all her pent-up worries and fears of entering the pro hero world, Akemi could practically hear the steam coming out of her ears and seeping through the receiver.

Her mind lingered back to all the late nights her older sister had spent by her side offering her knowledge and experience in hopes of Akemi receiving the highest marks in her class.

For a while, she succeeded. However, her support had a limit. Although she did her best to coach her in the laws, ethics, and basic pro hero knowledge, Akemi came to the daunting conclusion that Suzume could not help her when it came to developing her own strength and self confidence in her abilities. That was entirely up to her.

Ever since she could remember, all Akemi ever wanted in life was the opportunity to become a pro hero. Her then tiny 5-year-old mind thought there was no occupation in the world greater than saving others for a living after watching a news report on T.V. cover an incident in which a child saved a few people from what could have been a fatal accident.

Of course, that child possessed courage, strength, aptitude, and carried an outstanding quirk on his shoulders. Well, more like his back if we're talking technical, she thought.

Sadly, she had none of these qualities. Despite her ongoing, internal battle within herself, she was silently determined to reach her dream.

"I know, I know." She lamented, forcefully digging her palm into her forehead while trying to come up with the words to express her turmoil.

"I'm sorry. I just...I feel stuck! I've graduated, sure. But I have no idea where to go from here." Ashamed of the standstill she had come to, Akemi wished she could have turned out more like her driven older sister.

In her short lifetime Suzume has worked incredibly hard; graduating high school while taking care of her orphaned little sister, building her very own company despite all the challenges and difficult circumstances, as well as working her butt off once her company took flight to afford financing Akemi's attendance at Shiketsu Academy.

And yet, here I stand; - she aimlessly pondered- a recently graduated pro hero whose awful experience in school and zero connections has done much more to discourage than motivate me.

Even as she sat alone in their apartment, completely defeated and on the verge of tears from lack of drive and enthusiasm, Akemi still couldn't manage to convince herself to continue down this path.
