Hawks' eyes meticulously followed the bounce of Akemi's pen as she scribbled onto her notepad. He felt lightheaded watching her write but couldn't look away.

The speed at which she filled out incident reports was astonishing. Her older sister was a respected businesswoman. He wondered if a passion for office work ran in the family.

"If you write any more details on that form, I'm going to fire you." He warned.

"Would you like to take over?"

"Not in a million years." He stretched his arms across her desk, folding them over each other and resting his head. "Carry on."

His constant presence in her work life – and personal life lately – had begun demolishing the Pro Hero/Sidekick relationship they had at the start of her employment. The team admittedly spent more time together than Akemi had expected.

For weeks now they had been preoccupied with perfecting their teamwork. To do so, Hawks suggested they take to the streets of Kyushu. And so, they did.

Petty crimes and domestic disputes were the majority of what they resolved. Which was still more than Akemi had seen in her high school days. Truth be told, she had proven to be a fast learner. Her skillset as a hero and ability to assess civilian safety had been compromised due to lack of training.

Oftentimes she found herself questioning why Hawks had ever hired her to begin with.

I was clear when I explained my background, wasn't I? Suzume was undoubtedly thorough. She had to have told him about her hero work studies. Hawks never asked about this during her initial interview or thereafter. That is, until this evening.

With his eyes still focused on her movements, he leaned into Akemi's hand, his nose practically grazing her fingers while she wrote the final details of today's apprehension.

"The pro heroes during your work studies must have loved you." He commented. His eyes drifted up expecting to see a nod or gesture of affirmation.

She didn't move. She didn't respond, either. She didn't even blink.

He moved himself away, his head angled to get a better look at her.  "I'm guessing that's a, no?"

Akemi allowed her pen to fall in the purlicue of her right hand. By the sour expression painted on her face, Hawks assumed they did not, in fact, love her.

"If a pro hero doesn't see any type of potential in a student, they don't get to accompany them on patrols." She explained. "I did get to know the agency and hero policies fairly well, though."

"They stuck you with office work?" Hawks' left eyebrow rose in curiosity.

"All 3 years." She nodded. "I guess my reputation preceded me no matter where I was sent to."
