Warning: I cried while writing this. Probably because I'm a crybaby, but yeah.
____________________Y/n was just a child when she met Techno. He didn't exactly want another kid around, Tommy was already a pain.
But she was different... she didn't complain about little things, she just wanted to spend time with Techno.
He would never admit it to anyone, but he enjoyed spending time with her as well. She was like the little sister that he never had.
---
He watched her play in the sand, her small hands covered in the yellow-ish grain. Techno chuckled to himself as he watched as she clashed her hands together in attempt to get the sand off.
Upon hearing his chuckle, she frowned. "Don't laugh." She stuck out her bottom lip in a pout.
"Aw, don't be sad. Come here, little one." He held his arms open for her.
The child slowly crawled into his arms and sat. Techno gently grabbed her hands and dusted them off.
"Thank you. You're the best big brother ever." She snuggled into his chest.
That simple sentence sent a ping to Techno's heart.
Brother?
She really saw him as a brother?
Techno smiled to himself and hugged the child closer.
Right then and there, he knew that he would never let anything bad happen to her.
-9 years later-
The two of them sat, toes in the sand, her building a sand castle and him watching silently.
"Ugh, why is sand so difficult to get off of your hands? It shouldn't be this difficult." She flung the sand accidentally flinging some in her face.
He let out a chuckle and rolled his eyes.
"This is not a laughing matter! Help me!" She held her hands out in front of her.
The man shook his head with a slight smirk and sighed. "Come here."
Y/n scooted toward him and held out her hands.
Just like that day, nine years ago, he grabbed her hands gently and brushed the sand off easily.
"You are the exact same as you were all those years ago." he smiled to himself
The teen scoffed, "I'm older now, I'm not a kid anymore."
"You'll always be a kid in my book." he ruffled her hair.
She sighed and laid her head on his shoulder, "And you'll always be the best big brother in my book."
As he had thought, just the same as that day all those years ago. The same child that he adored more than anyone.
He wanted to protect her at all costs. It's what she deserved.
"I can't believe I never noticed how pretty the sunset was." the teen observed the ocean and sky above.
"You were too busy playing in the sand to notice."
"I was 5, it's what we do."
The two sat in comfortable silence as they watched the beautiful sun disappear into the ocean view.
-5 years later-
It was all the same, the sand, the sunset, the ocean, feet in the sand, hands all sandy... There was just one thing missing.
Y/n gazed at the beautiful sun, chin set on her knees.
She remembered the years that the two of them visited the beach and stayed there for hours just to let her play in the sand.
As she looked to her side, a tear rolled down her cheek.
She no longer had that smiling face observing her in the sand.
A lump began to form in the back of her throat.
"I know you always said that crying is for the weak and that I should stay strong..."
"...but I really miss you." more tears streamed down her face.
"I wish you were here to watch the sunset with me one more time. And to help me clean my hands of this stupid sand." she laughed through the tears.
She sniffled and hugged her knees.
"You really were the best big brother I could have ever asked for."
