(Little AU where Komugi is in a secret relationship with a certain ant king)

"Not this one. Not this one either. Ugh, fruit picking in this village is awful."

The young village girl shook her head and
continued to push around the bushes for ripe fruit. Alas, she was only met with squishy and foul disappointment.

"Hey, Komugi! You find any yet?" She heard her older sister ask behind her.

"No, all of it's gone bad." She replied.

Her sister sighed. "Me neither. Well, that's all the fruit bushes we have here. We're just gonna have to head back home."

"Man... I was looking forward to having some strawberries." Komugi couldn't help but feel disappointment. Perfect fruit was a luxury in these parts of the East Gorteau. If you don't pick fruit the moment it's ripe, it's gone.

"Hey, don't get so down! There's bound to be good fruit soon. We just have to wait a little more!" Her sister playfully nudged her little sister in the arm.

"I guess," Komugi said. "Yukio, I just don't wanna get scolded by Mom for not searching hard enough."

Yukio scoffed "That old hag? Don't worry, I'll take the heat if she's in a bad mood."

Before Komugi could protest, the sound of the village bells could be heard from where they were. The girls stopped what they were doing and ran back to the town square. Many of the villagers were already there and were gathered in a crowd. Yukio held Komugi's hand tightly so she wouldn't get lost in the big wave of people.

"Komugi! Yukio! Over here!" Younger siblings Aki and Eve called out, waving their hands to get the attention of their sisters.

"What's going on? The village bell only goes off during emergencies! Where's mother?" Yukio asked.

The children shrugged their shoulders.

"Mama couldn't be bothered to come out of the house. She said she'd rather sleep than come out to all this chaos." Eve said.

Yukio crossed her arms. "How typical of that woman."

Suddenly, the entire village went silent. Komugi knew this meant that the village chief finally arrived. Aside from the footsteps, she couldn't help but hear a rustling noise. She turned to her sister.

"Yukio," Komugi whispered, "what's that rustling noise?"

"The chief is wheeling in a huge box that's covered in a blanket. I can't tell what's inside though. Perhaps a mini statue?"

"Why would they ring the bell for a statue? It's only used for emergencies!" Komugi whispered.

"Shut up, I'm trying to listen!"

The village chief stood behind the wooden podium and cleared his throat.

"Everyone!" He started, "My apologies for such a sudden commotion. I know that everyone has things they must do. However, this matter is something that I believe everyone must be aware of."

He turned to the covered box and pulled the blanket off. The people gasped in horror as they saw what it was. It was a cage that held a strange creature. Unconscious, but still scary to everyone. It had a strange purple/green tail and its skin was as green as a Granny Smith.

Komugi softly nudged her sister to explain what was happening, but she too was stunned like the others. Komugi groaned and decided to move forward into the crowd so she could be in the front and hear more about what was happening.

"We have found this green-tailed creature roaming around the forest. It showed massive amounts of malicious nen, but we were able to put it to sleep with our spears." The chief announced.
