A Different Kind of Brotherly Love

Chapter 2

I woke up to hear a loud honk from outside. I run down stairs to see the moving van had arrived and mother and Jeff were unloading heavy things like, decorations such as tables for the hallways to set candles on.

I ran back upstairs and unzipped my bag to grab my tooth brush and tooth paste. I opened up the bathroom door and walk in to find Cade wearing a bath towel and dark brown wet hair. He also had a six pack which looked amazing!

What am I saying? He will soon be my step brother and I don't need to think of him that way.

He was now looking at me, "like what you see?" He asks looking at where I was gazing.

"Umm... Sorry I will get out and come back later," I say

"No it's ok go ahead." He says

I slowly walk to my sink."I don't bite," he says

"Sorry... I ..." I trail off

I pop open the cap of the paste and squeeze out a large chunk of it onto my tooth brush.

Cade was running gel through his hair with his hands.

I started to brush then noticed Cade had started brushing his teeth too. The silence was killing me, it was so awkward.

I looked out of the corner of my eye and saw Cade staring at me. I looked over to find him grinning at me with tooth paste all over his mouth. I couldn't help but smiling to then burst out laughing.

"You got a little..." I trail off gesturing to his face.

"You too." He says in his deep morning voice which made shivers go down my spine.

"Ya cold?" He asks

"No just felt a breeze or something," I say turning back to my sink knowing he didn't buy it.

"So what happened to your dad?" He asks.

I was hoping he wouldn't ever ask me that.

"He left when I was six." I say

I'm not going to cry. I've cried enough over the years I'm over it, I knew he never cared anyways which is why he left.

"I'm sorry." He says

"It's fine."I say shaky

"Do you miss him?" He asks

"No." I say "what about your mom?" I ask not knowing how he would react.

"She died 5 years ago in a car wreck," he says

"I'm sorry," I say repeating him from before.

"Yeah, I miss her sometimes," he says "but I also like your mom, she seems nice," he finishes.

"I guess so," I say half way agreeing about my mom.

"So what are you doing today?" He asks changing the subject.

"Umm I'm not real sure, I don't really know my way around so I guess I will just stay home." I say.

"I'm going to the beach with some of my friends, do you want to come?"he asks.

"Sure," I say unsure if I really wanted to go or not.

"I'm leaving around 12 so be ready," he says.

"K," I say and he walks into his room closing the door behind him.

After that I go back into my room searching through my bag still not unpacked yet, to find a cute baby blue bikini with a silver ring in the middle on the top piece. I put a white T-Shirt over it that says 'FLORIDA' on the front and short blue jean shorts.

I look at my phone to see the time.

I run down stairs to find my mom in the kitchen making pancakes.

"Where are you going?" She asks flipping a cake.

"To the beach with Cade and some of his friends." I say casually.

"Ok be careful." She says sitting a plate down at the table for me. I just nod.

GiGi walks in with a bright pink dressy shirt on with blue jean shorts and her blonde hair French braided back.

"Good morning," she says cheerfully.

"Morning," I say smiling at her and my mother sets a plate down in front of her.

"Thank you miss misty." She says.

"Your welcome oh and call me misty darling," my mom says.

She just smiles and grabs a fork.

After that Cade came in and got a plate too. "Where's my dad?" He asks.

"Oh he running a few errands he will be back soon." My mother says.

He nods then GiGi stand up picking up her plate taking it to the sink.

"Well I have to go, I have a part time job interview." She says proud of herself.

"Good luck, break a leg." My mother says.

"Break a leg?"she asks horrified

"You've never heard that expression before?" My mother asks. She shakes her head.

"Well thank you anyways." GiGi says and with that she was gone.

"True blonde," Cade says.

"Your sister is very smart." My mom says. I just is back and giggle.

"You ready?" Cade asks.i nod and stand up and we head out the door.
