A Different Kind of Brotherly Love

Chapter 4

When I got into the water I spotted where Cade and his friends were and started to swim over. They were all in a group and were talking about sharks.

"Dude OK! here is my escape plan. I'm going to get as far away as posible and then through you guise out for bait!" I hear the guy from before, Kenny, say.

"Gee thanks Ken!" Lennox's boyfriend says.

"Hey Brynn!" Lennox yells waving her hand for me to come to their group. I walked over to see them all huddled together.

"Its about time you came, I was starting to think that you weren't going to come." Cade laughed.

"HaHa." I mimic toward him with a disgusted face.

"So how have your first couple of days in Cali been?" Lennox asks.

"Great I haven't really got to go anywhere yet though." i say shyly.

"What are you doing tomorrow?" she asks.

"Nothing but unpacking a few last things." i say.

"Great I'll take you shopping! And I could show you around a little bit!" she insists.

"Thanks." I say looking around noticing that Cade was nowhere to be found. "Hey wher-" I was cut off by being tugged roughly under water not being able to breathe. Once I came up I looked around to see every on laughing except for Lennox.

"Guys that's not funny! Cade you probably scared the crap out of her!" Lennox yells.

I turn around to see Cade behind me flicking his soaked hair to the side smiling widely. I would be so mad at what he did but he looked so cute. Wait what? Ughhh! I need to stop thinking of things like this! He is my soon to be step brother! Stop Brynn! I sat there probably looking most baffled as ever.

"Yeah your right Lenn, I'm sorry Brynn. Huggs?" he asks opening his arms for a hug.

I start to move in to his arms and before I know it he moves his arms and splashes me. He just snickers afterwards. No. He's not getting off the hook this time. I shove my hands into the salty water towards his direction getting him in the face. He closes his eyes splashing back creating a splash war, and its romantic. Oh No. There I go again!

We finally get to the end and I let him have the last splash.

"OK I have had enough for the day I'm going to go back and lay out to tan." I announce.

"OOh! I'll come with!" Lennox says. She then turns to her boyfriend" Bye Ty," she says kissing him.

"Eww!" Cade and I both say at the same time.

"Oh be mature!" Ty says jokingly. I just giggle.

We walk up to the shore and lay down on our beach towels. She looks at like she wants to say something but doesn't.

"I-" she starts but doesn't finish.

"What is it?" I ask.

"Well, you cant tell I said anything but I think....that......Cade likes you." she says.

I take it as a joke. "That's ridiculous, he's about to be my step brother."

"Well that whole thing back there looked like flirting." she says.

"We were just having fun, messing around." I say.

"And........." she trails off.

"And?" I ask.

"Well I heard him and Ty talking about it, and he said that he knows its wrong but he thinks he likes you." she says.

I don't really know how to react because I don't know if I have feelings for him too or not.

"Maybe you heard them wrong." I suggest.

"I doubt it , but I guess its a possibility." she says.

About 30 minutes of Lenn and I talking and getting to know each other Cade came back up to shore.

"You ready to go?" he asks.

"Sure" I say standing up.

"Bye Brynn, nice to meet you!" Lenn says enthusiastically.

"You too!" I say back waving.

We got to Cade's truck and I got in.

"I like your friends." I say as we drive off.

"Yeah I think you and Lenn will be great friends." he says.

"Yeah," I say back.

When we got home I just lazed around until bed time.
