Steve's P.O.V
After hearing all what Micheal said. All I felt was guilty, fear and anger. Why would someone do such a thing to his own daughter just for more power and money?
"She had been facing all these since when she was eight?" I try to confirm even when he had mentioned it earlier.
"Hmm.. she is really a strong girl. She never let the bad experience eat her up" Micheal says deep in his thought.
"We really need to help her"
"Sure we will.. Ariel is not some kind of a scared little kitten. You know that, that's why you named her wild cat right?.. she is not easy to bully. I'm sure she would find a way to make this situation turn into her advantage" he smile.
"Yea.. you're right" I nod in agreement. "But Something feels wrong in the story"
"What do you mean?" Micheal ask.
"Why would Mr Dave want to divorce Ariel's mother in the first place, when he knows very well that if he divorce her, he won't have any access to her property". I ask and Micheal crease his brow.
"Hmm.. why haven't I thought of that?" He mumble.
"Yea.. it still doesn't make sense he changed his mind all of a sudden. Something else must have happened that night" I say and Micheal smile hearing this.
"That was cool of you.. I never thought you would be this brilliant. Thanks Steve, I'll work on that"
"I played detective with my uncle when I was little... Sigh... I just want my girl back" I've missed her so much already. Her not being around me is like I've lost my other half.
"How I wish I could have a girl" he mumble to himself.
"What about Caroline. She seems to be into you" I say to him and he frown deeper.
"What?" I ask.
"Nothing.. I just had an urge"
"But why haven't you tell the cops about this? There should be a way to expose him and give what belong to Ariel back to her.."
"The cops can't do a thing Steven. Do you think we haven't try that process? Mr Dave literally know every damn cop in the country.. those mosquitoes are even scared of him"
"I know someone.. I can ask my uncle for help. He is a ditective and we can trust him..."
"We can't trust anyone here Steven. Even if they are your parent. I once trust my best friend, we shared things together, do things together, get drunk and many more. One thing I don't know at that time was he had his eyes on my wife Flora.." He pause. I could feel both anger and pain in his voice.
"You know what he did? He raped my wife and killed her in the process. He fucking set my house on fire having my daughter in it.. I can still remember the unbearable torture I gave to him. He kept pleading for so long under unbearable pain until he finally died. I didn't feel the pain leave my chest until I meet Ariel" He chuckle and I just keep quiet listening to him.
"If it wasn't for her, I would have lost my daughter too. Ariel is one of the best thing God have given me and I'll do anything to make her happy even if it cost my life".
He grab another bread and takes a bite.
"Sorry about that" I whisper.
"Yea.. I get that a lot. Now can you stop looking at me like that. I hate pity looks" He is back to his normal self. "For me to tell you all these means I trust you.. I just have the feeling that you are the right person for her"
