Episode 7: Mr. Pigeon

Mr. Pigeon: Don't You Eat These Things for Breakfast

It was the first class of the day, Camellia and Nathaniel were finishing up the episode on Lady Wifi when Principal Damocles spoke up, "You have one day to work on a fashion piece of your own design."

"In twenty-four hours, your presentation will be judged by the great fashion designer Gabriel Agreste, the father of our student Adrien. Adrien will model the winning design." Nathaniel and Camellia saw the image of a derby hat and looked at each other.

"Nathaniel you got the design right? I will make the hat, just send me the design when you are done." Nathaniel was already started on his design. She patted him on the back before leaving the school to go get materials.

Their class, along with a few others, had been excused from classes for the day to prepare for the event. "I can use some of Marinette's materials but I have an idea that I might need some red or black fabric."

Camellia mumbled to herself, while trying to come up with an idea of what Nathaniel planned. After spending a good chunk of her allowance and waiting for the message in boredom, she got a text message from Nathaniel.

"I knew it." She laughed as the sketch of a Ladybug inspired derby hat Nathaniel sent. A black brim with a red base. There was an overlay of fabric that looked like the hard cover protecting the wings with black spots covering it. On one side tucked into a black band, that was decorated with red embroidery to show a ladybug walking, was a pair of antenna.

It seemed easy enough, after looking up a tutorial on making a hat base. Camellia used her own head to make the structure for the hat out of Worbla and her hair dryer. She had no idea what it was but a woman at the store told her it was good for structuring costume pieces.

It was expensive but easy to mould. After creating a good hat shape with Pluuma's guidance and a mirror, Camellia worked on pinning the fabric to her hat. Nathaniel had called during the process to help her work.

With the three of them working, the hat was almost finished when Nathaniel told her that there was planes made of pigeons flying away from Le Grand Paris hotel before hanging up on her to go draw the chaos.

"Okay Pluuma. Rising Flame." Miracle Flame flew to the hotel and met up with Scarlet in the lobby. Miracle told her about the park keepers being taken by the pigeons on her way over. Chat drew them an elevator and the trio made their way to Le Grand Palais.

When they get to the entrance, they smell a trap. Scarlet leads the other two to the roof. "If you destroy that bird call, I can capture the akuma."

The trio make it to a roof hatch, "Chat, you open the window. I grab him and you snag the bird call. Miracle I am going to need you to cover me if I need it" Miracle nodded readying her arrows and bow.

"Early Bird gets the worm." Chat says, unlocking the hatch and pulling it open. However, the plan is ruined when Chat lets out a sneeze. The sneeze breaks Scarlet's concentration and causes her to flub the catch.

"So much for the element of surprise." Scarlet almost whimpers before the trio jump into the Palais. Miracle stays on the catwalk to keep Mr Pigeon from running while Chat and Scarlet fight him.

Mr Pigeon uses his call to make pigeon boxing gloves, which he uses to hit Chat across the room and send Scarlet flying into the cage trapping the park keepers.
Scarlet calls out her "Lucky Charm" and is confused by the coin. Miracle decided to join the fight and distract Mr Pigeon while Scarlet figures out her plan. "Miracle, Move!"

Scarlet runs and slides underneath the villain while wrapping her yo-yo around his ankle. She gets up in the same motion before jumping and grabbing onto a support beam. She wraps the yo-yo around it before continuing to run to the snack machines on the other side of the room.

Scarlet buys a bag of popcorn and throws it into the air. Miracle lines up her shot and the popcorn falls onto Mr Pigeon. The pigeons swarm him and Scarlet pulls her yo-yo. The bird call falls off his neck.

"Cataclysm!" Chat Noir picks up the bird call before sneezing sending the ashes flying outward. The black butterfly is freed and Miracle catches Mr Ramier, who had fallen when Scarlet went to catch the butterfly.

After setting the confused man down, Miracle restores everything to normal. Miracle gives her partners a fist pump before flying home. She is able to finish up her hat before she was able to catch some sleep. Camellia was nervous when Marinette told her that she was still working on hers when Camellia notified her sister she was going to bed.

Marinette was able to finish before school and was yanked to the school by her sister. While Marinette showed off her hat to Alya, Camellia and Nathaniel explained their hat to Gabriel Agreste who seemed impressed with the use of Worbla, a very hard material to work with. Marinette was next and some confusion made an appearance. Chloe and Marinette had the same hat.

"I can prove this derby hat is mine. Everything is handmade, from the embroidery to the weaving and stitching. Done by myself." Marinette expertly showed off her hat, which caused Chloe to gasp.

"And there's an element the only a true designer knows about." Marinette flipped her hat upside down and showed off the intricate detailing on the hat band. "I signed mine."

Chloe, in even more shock, knocks her hat to the ground and runs away close to tears. Sabrina follows while the competition and judge watches with uninterested looks. "Exquisite creation. You have the labouring hands of hat maker, Miss..."

Adrien introduced her, "Marinette" with a little too much enthusiasm. "Congratulations, Miss Marinette. You're the winner." Marinette bowed over and over again while expressing gratitude.

Camellia was proud of her sister for getting the recognition she deserved while also comforting Nathaniel who was so proud of his design. "Also, it seems only fair to give the Ladybug team second place. Your design is just as well crafted as her's."

"Thank you, Mister Agreste. It is an honour to be recognised by you." Camellia thanked him with a smile while Nathaniel was close to tears. Finally, someone other than Camellia liked his designs. Camellia handed the boy her handkerchief.

"Adrien will wear your derby hats on our next advertising campaign." Mister Agreste told the three before leaving the call with Miss Nathalie and Adrien. Miss Nathalie had taken the hat boxes from the Dupain sisters.

Adrien walked calmly while also holding up a thumbs up behind his back. The sisters gave each other a high five while Nathaniel stood by, trying to stop his tears of joy. Camellia hugged Nathaniel before she guided her sister and friend to the bakery for some celebratory cookies.
