Chapter 9

We speed walk over to the room that we were brought to when we first came, it was guarded by two militants from what I can see.

"Hey wait up." One said.

"Where did you guys come from?" A taunting voice asked as Niragi steps out. "We didn't ask you guys to come here."

"I called Arisu and y/n over." Chishiya appeared from behind Niragi.

"Hey, don't go gathering people on your own."

"There's something important they have to hear. Let's go in." He turns and we follow behind leaving Usagi out there.

"What happened?" Arisu asked.

"Who knows? It must be something serious." Chishiya answers smirking.  Then he opens the door.

Inside the room everyone is standing in a circular shape, I take my place in between Arisu and Chishiya. The Hatter is lying dead on the table in the middle of the group. Most of the executives are here.

Tatta and Ann show up.

"It seems like he couldn't clear the game." Tatta tells Ann. "The maintenance team found him by chance in Shinjuku, while we were refilling gasoline."

Ann walks up to the body and reaches towards it.

"Hey, don't touch him as you please. You dissection maniac." Niragi walks in, and Ann backs away from the body a little.

"He was shot by a gun. Did his game involve guns?" She asks.

Tatta steps forward, "Most likely. Some of those near the game area heard gunshots too."

I guess he wasn't as invincible as he thought he was.

"Oh my. He should've brought the militants along with him." Niragi states.

The three of us make eye contact and Chishiya shakes his head.

"What's going to happen to the beach?" One executive asks.

"Keep this a secret from the rest. They'll be shaken by this." Smiley says, only she is no longer smiling.

"I'll be the next leader since I'm Number two." Number two states, I really got to remember their names.

"Wait a second." Niragi cuts in. "Shouldn't the strongest person be the leader? We're the ones who have been getting rid of the traitors, yet we've been treated as shadows the entire time. This unfair treatment ends today!"

Niragi preaching about unfairness, only if it helps him out.

"If Number one dies, everyone moves up by a number. We agreed on this rule."

"The snobbish dictator is dead. The power has shifted, hasn't it? Let's just be democratic and go with the majority. Who agrees that Aguni should be the next leader?" Niragi finishes.

No one in their right mind ls should raise their hand. Not surprising that nobody did. I heard the sword dude shift from his original position.

"What a bad reaction." Niragi sighs disappointed. "Last boss."

Ohhh so that's his name.

Last boss takes his sword out and points it at Ann.

"I'll ask again. Who agrees that Aguni should be the new leader?" Niragi repeats.

Ann sighs and slowly raises her hand.

"This... is not a majority rule." Smiley says. I literally want to hit her, we can see that. Oh well the ones who have brain cells can.

"It is, isn't it?" Niragi spins around and points his gun at her. "You're free to vote after all."

She then also raises her hand, damn it looks like it is going to go around the circle.

"What about former Number two over there? What will you do?"

Another hand raised.

And another.

Niragi scoffs noticing Chishiya. He points his gun at him. "What about you?"

Chishiya only slowly looks over to him.

"Are you looking down on us, Chishiya?"

"But you guys really are stupid." Chishiya lazily smirks. He's gonna get himself killed.

Niragi steps forward pointing the gun dauntingly at the blonde. "Those eyes of yours really piss me off. It's so condescending."

Chishiya raises both hands and leans back a little. "I vote for Aguni to be the leader." He smirks again and nods to the gun. "Are you all right with losing me as a precious 'yes' vote?"

Niragi takes the gun away, "Well, I hope you reflect on how you should act in the future."

Then he turns in my direction, "Princess, I hope you are at least reasonable." Pointing the gun in my direction, I look back at him and I raise my hand like all those before had. "Good to know you can listen." He smirks.

"Hey what are you spacing out for? We're you never taught that you should reply to people? Whose side are you on?" He taunts Arisu pointing the gun in his face.

Last boss then steps forward swiping his sword at Arisu who flinched back.

Niragi laughed, "You were really scared for a moment there, right? That's so funny."

Arisu raises his hand.

"All right. Suddenly everyone's voting 'yes.' So the new leader is decided, right?"

"Hatter would not allow this." Mira said, I finally remember her name. "If he were alive, he would not have allowed this."

Niragi laughs, "But he's dead." And he hits Hatter with his gun. "The dead won't know what's going on." He repeatedly hits him. "See?"

"Enough." Aguni finally says something. And Niragi backs away from the body, and walks over to his boss. "From today onwards, I will be the Beach's new king."

"Isn't this wonderful?" Niragi claps, "Now, boss. What's left is the succession ceremony. Let's open the black envelope."

The black envelope. The poker cards gathered by all the members of Beach are kept in the safe in Hatter's royal suit room. The pass code to the safe is kept and sealed inside the black envelope. The envelope is opaque and kept in utmost secrecy, and can be opened only when there is a new Number one. The new number one will check the passcode alone in front of all executive members. Then he will place the paper with the passcode written on it into a new envelope and seal it again. It will be signed by all executive members before it's stashed away again." Chishiya explains back in his room.

"First Arisu will infiltrate the royal suite. Then he will search for the safe and steal all the playing cards inside."

"What about the passcode?" Arisu asks.

"I have an idea of that. I'll tell you when you are in front of the safe." He passes a walkie talkie to Arisu.

"You're really cautious. I got it." He picked up the walkie talkie.

"You three will be on the lookout."

"This is too dangerous. If we're discovered, we'll be killed." Usagi says.

"This is the only way to change the current situation. Now that Hatter is dead and there's no unity at the Beach, the time is right for the plan." We sit in silence before heading out.

"Y/n, wait." Chishiya calls.

"Yeah?"

"Just stay in your position okay? No matter what."

I looked at him confused before he walked away. But I had to hurry to my spot for the ceremony was about to begin.
