The next day, Khari took you around Atlanta to some of his favorite spots. First stop was Waffle House for breakfast. He opened the door for you and you walked in and sat in a booth while he sat across from you.
"So what should I order? I've never been here." You asked.
"I would say waffles but that would be too obvious. I normally get the bacon, grits and eggs or steak and eggs." He suggested.
"Hmmm... How about I get the grits, eggs, and the steak?" You stated. The waiter came and took your orders and you guys made small talk until the food came out. You could tell both of y'all were trying so hard not to bring up what happened the night before. But great thing the food came out just in time.
"I hope it's good." You said to him.
"It is. Trust me." He responded.
You tasted some of it and loved it. As time went on, you talked some more, not trying to make it awkward.
"So what else is on the agenda today?" You asked.
"Well... I remember you saying you liked aquariums and shit so that's the next stop. Then we going to the arcade, and then we gonna do a lil scavenger hunt, eat then head back to the crib for the party." He told you.
"Really? I'm so excited for that." You said to him.
"You talk a lot girl damn!" He said while laughing. You made a sad facial expression and didn't say anything.
"Girl, don't get sensitive now." He smacked his lips and said, "You serious?" He then got up from his side of the booth and sat next to you and hugged you.
"I'm sorry, cry baby." He said.
"Okay, I forgive you." You replied and smiled.
"Girl, you play too much. You ready to go?" He asked.
"Yeah." You responded.
He paid for the food plus tip then the two of you left and headed to the aquarium.
While there Khari was very intrigued by the animals and the facts about him. You noticed yourself staring at him for periods of time and then snapping yourself out of it. After the aquarium, you guys went downtown to start the scavenger hunt. You guys found most of the things on the list but ended up losing to a white couple. The day was going great, you loved spending time with him and it was different than talking to him over a video game. You wanted him but you didn't want to lose the friendship.
"That was fun. Let's go eat." He suggested as you two walked to the car.
"Okay cool, where to?" You asked.
"This lil spot by the house. They got the best soul food." He said while opening your door.
When you guys arrived to the restaurant, the hostess set you down at a table. The waitress then took your orders.
"I want the baked chicken with sweet potatoes, rice and mac and cheese." You said.
"Damn that sound good. Give me the same thing." He said to her. "So, you having fun with me?" He asked you.
"Yeah, I've had so much fun. But this is my first time meeting a stranger from online though. You really weren't what I expected." You were telling him until you were interrupted by a lady that walked up to your table.
"Hey, Takeoff. Long time no see." She said to him with smile and disregard for you.
"Oh hey, what's up? Long time no see, I just saw you the other day." He responded.
"Yeah, well I want to see you again." She told him, looking into his eyes closely, caressing his hand.
"Nigga, are you serious right now?" You asked him.
"Oh, I'm sorry. You on a date right now?" She asked him
"No, This is my friend. I'm showing her around the city." He introduced.
You have a quick wave and rolled your eyes.
"You say you want to see me again, come by the crib tonight. I'm having a lil shindig." He told her.
"I'll be there." she said and then walked away. You were clearly pissed off.
"Okay. You gonna tell me who the fuck is Takeoff?" You asked.
"Oh that's just a nickname I picked up from around the way." He responded.
"Who was that?" You asked him.
"What's up with all these damn questions?" He asked you.
"Yeah, I'm ready to go." You said, scooting out of the booth and heading towards the door.
"What about the food?" He yelled to you.
"GET IT TO GO! I DON'T GIVE A FUCK!" You screamed, walking out of the door to the car.
He got the order to go and then went to the car where you were. On the drive back to his house, he asked, "What is your problem?"
"Can we just not talk about it?" You asked. You had calmed down and wanted to forget about the whole thing.
"Nope, we finna talk about it. That ain't nothing for you to get mad about. She my friend too, just like you. Y'all both got different benefits though. We got an understanding, she know she ain't the only one too." He revealed.
"Hm." You said. "I get it, it makes sense. A man like you gonna have plenty of bitches." You added.
"It's not even like that. This pandemic got lonely haha." He stated.
He drove up the house and you guys took your food inside and ate. Afterwards you went upstairs and played your game for a few hours while he set up for the party. You then took a shower and got ready yourself. You heard people starting to arrive and took a selfie before you went downstairs.
