The king cleared his throat, and the room fell silent. "By the power vested in me, I hereby declare that as of this day, this noble warrior shall become the official royal guard of Princess Solaris." His voice boomed throughout the grand hall, making everyone stand up straighter. The new guard, Zhara, knelt before the princess, feeling the weight of her gaze on her as she looked down.

"It is my honor, your grace," Zhara said, her voice steady despite the nerves that coiled in her stomach.

As the ceremony drew to a close, Princess Solaris began to show Zhara around the castle, eager to learn more about her new guard. "So, Zhara, tell me, why were you a warrior? What is the difference between that and the role of a royal guard?" Solaris asked, her curiosity piqued.

Zhara looked at her princess, weighing her words carefully. "Well, your highness, being a warrior is all about fighting and protecting, while being a royal guard is about serving and protecting. It's more about safeguarding your grace, than fighting for a cause." she smiles at the end.

The princess nodded, satisfied with the answer. "And what about your name, Zhara? It's a lovely name," Solaris said, offering a small smile.

Zhara smiled back, feeling more at ease. "Thank you, your highness. My name is Zhara, and it truly is an honor to be your guard," she replied, bowing her head slightly.

Solaris was pleased with the response. "It's good to have you, Zhara. I hope you'll like it here," she said, a note of warmth in her voice.

As they continued their tour, Zhara found herself enjoying the princess's company. She was kind and thoughtful, and Zhara felt like she could learn a lot from her. "And this is my beloved room, where you'll be guarding me for the rest of your stay," Solaris said, gesturing towards the ornate doors.

Zhara couldn't help but feel a pang of sympathy for the princess. Being trapped in one room for so long couldn't be easy. "I understand, your highness," she said.

Solaris smiled, grateful for the sentiment, before bidding her new guard goodnight and retreating to her room.

Zhara stood there for a moment, taking in her new surroundings. It was a beautiful castle, filled with ornate decorations and intricate tapestries. As she made her way to her room, the castle guards congratulated her, calling her lucky to be the personal guard of such a beautiful princess.

Zhara couldn't help but smile at their words, feeling grateful for this opportunity. It wasn't going to be an easy job, but she was determined to serve her princess to the best of her ability.

As Zhara walked down the corridor, the click of her heels echoed through the halls. She felt a familiar presence of a simian, and as she turned, she saw Macaque standing at the end of the corridor.

"Hey Mac, you remember which way my new room was, considering you were watching over the whole time?" she questioned, flashing him a smile.

Her shadow stretched to a silhouette of a simian. "I think it was a left," he responded, his tone familiar and casual.

She smiled back at him. "Thank you, it's also good to see you, bud." They walked down the corridor together, with Macaque's presence bringing her comfort.

As they walked, Zhara turned to Macaque and asked, "So did anything happen? I don't get why you've been looming around the place."

The dark simian shrugged, "Nah, just was waiting for the time to say congratulations."

She chuckled at his response, knowing he was never one to show his emotions openly. "Thanks, but I thought you were against this all. Specifically the plan."

"I am," Macaque grumbled defensively, "but it's rather impressive that you've gotten this far."

Zhara hummed, acknowledging what he said, and they walked in silence before Macaque spoke again.

"And I guess that's my cue to leave. See you, Zhars," he said before she could bid him goodbye. Footsteps now filled the new silence, and she understood why he left promptly.

As she reached her door, the castle guards making their rounds around the castle congratulated her, "Lucky," they said. "To be the personal guard for a beautiful princess."

Zhara couldn't help but roll her eyes at the guard's flattery, knowing they only said it because of her royal status. "Thanks," she replied with a small smile before entering her room to rest for her first day tomorrow.
