The Interviews

Ariana
I wear my best outfit to the interview at Seattle Independent Publishing Company and I am looking good and my resume is all that it can be. Elizabeth Morgan is interviewing me for an assistant editor job and I will be trained by an existing editor Jack Hyde and I will report to him, unfortunately he isn't in today, but she assures me that she will be making the decision on who gets the job. Jack is just training me and will not be my direct boss. I am feeling good about getting the job as I head home, but I decide that I need to put in other applications and I do just that as I sit in a coffee shop with Internet availability and I sign on to one of their laptops and see four other publishing companies looking for editors as well as assistant editors. Soon I am contacted with four interviews and I go to another one close by. Grey Publishing, I am interviewed by a woman named Andrea Parker and she says they will let me know by the end of the week. The three others go the same way.

Anastasia
I decide to send more resumes out for an editors job and soon get six interviews besides my original one. I see Seattle Independent Publishing Company and I am interviewed by a Hannah Smith who is also an editor and will be one of the trainers and she will be hiring and training two new editors and I am in the top five possible hires. She will let me know by Friday. This is how the other interviews go.the Grey Publishing company was the best of all the companies because it has opened up itself to ebooks. The others are still trying to break into the market. I am sitting waiting on an Andrea Parker, but she had an emergency and I am being interviewed by mrs Bailey and she is definitely not working as an HR person. It turns out she is the COO of GEH aka Grey Enterprises Holdings. I think she wants to hire me, but she has to run background checks and will let me know on Friday afternoon. She has to hire three editors and so far I am the front runner.

Roz
I looked over the applicants that Andrea marked as potential hires and she makes small notes about appearance and attitude of the person. I notice we have two named Steele and they are the same age and I start looking further and we have twins applying for the same positions. One applicant stands out to me and that is Anastasia. It might be because I interviewed her, but something else has me wondering if I am just missing something. I call Andrea and ask her a few questions about her interview with Ariana. One was what kind of questions did she ask Andrea and it turns out she asked her only three questions and none were relevant to what we are looking for her to accomplish in the job she applied for. Anastasia however asked all kinds of questions about our ebooks and if it is already setup or will she be helping in implementing it. These are good questions, she said she has experience working on getting ebooks ready and on line. That put her in the front of our hiring list. I decided to offer the job and have her sign her papers on Friday morning and she will start on Monday.

Anastasia
I got the Grey Publishing Company job and start Monday. I went to HR at 8am and then to security and payroll and orientation. I am finally through and I am handed my security badge and employee identification and my keys to my office and my company car. Wanda will be jealous. I signed all my paperwork including an NDA and non compete forms.

Ariana
I didn't get the Grey Publishing job, but I got the assistant position at Seattle Independent Publishing. I go fill out the papers and I am told that Jack Hyde has left the company and I will be trained by Hannah Smith instead. Miss Morgan seems a bit off today or it could be just me. It apparently wasn't just me, police came in and arrested her. An announcement was made to the company over the intercoms that we are to go on working and to not discuss the arrest with anyone at all. Since I signed an NDA I can't discuss it at all. I just can't believe that I am seeing this at all. Hannah tells me not to worry about miss Morgan because she did something that got her arrested. I listen to her and we go back to me getting trained and the day is finally over and she said I did great and she was going to recommend that I get trained on other things soon. She tells me to get up to speed on ebooks because it's the future. She sounds like Anastasia now.

Anastasia
Ariana is frantic about ebooks all the sudden and needs my help to get up to speed on it. Good lord she ignored me talking to her about the new future in publishing and here she is wanting a crash course in it. I send her my notes on it and what sites she can look at and leave it at that. I made a huge mistake in thinking I could just email her the information and she would settle for that. She arrived at my apartment and I had to show her exactly how to do ebooks publishing. It took a better part of my night to get her to understand the basics. I sent her home to practice with what I showed her. She wasn't happy about me getting hired at Grey Publishing and she wasn't at at an editor's position. She was hired for an assistant editors job at SIP. I told her that I turned their job offer down because I didn't like the way miss Morgan acted with me.
