The man leaded her through a dark alleyway. It seemed tight, making her panic slightly. Her breath was heavy and noisy, but Dante seemed to ignore it, not caring enough to check on her.
Her panic wasn't coming from the fact that she was in there, or because she was with Dante. For the time she worked for Il Diavolo she never had any trouble with him. In fact, Dante always seemed to be a respectful man, trust worthy too, even though he seemed cold and uninterested.
Her fear was coming from the boys absence and that she can't use her comms either. They couldn't come after her, and couldn't know where we were going. It was making me feel unsafe somehow.
"Dante? Where are we going?" I asked, while turning the earpiece on, hopefully managing to get them hear a location or at least something helpful.
"For fuck's sake, Evelynn, just follow me."
"Evelynn, do you copy?" Ghost's voice rang into her ear, making her widen her eyes.
"Yeah, alright."
"Good, don't need to answer now, find a way to tell us where you are when you can."
Shortly after, Evelynn found herself in front of a motel. It looked pretty old and dirty, obviously not the place she expected to meet one of the richest and most respected dealer.
She stopped in place, blinking rapidly as she saw the area. If she felt unsafe on the alleyway, now it was even worse.
"Motel Alfred?" She asked, looking up to Dante for confirmation.
"Yeah, small place, good for discussions."
"Evelynn, is this your location? We are on our way, okay?"
"Yes. I get it."
"Well, go ahead. Go in."
"Motel Alfred?" Evelynn's voice rang through the comms, making Ghost start the engine in no time.
"Evelynn, is this your location? We are on our way, okay?" The mohawk man spoke, shaking his hand towards Ghost, who nodded in response.
"Yes. I get it."
"That's it LT, she's there."
"Obviously. It's gonna take a bit, we don't have a straight street to it."
"Will we get there before anything happens to her, right?" Gaz asked.
"Mhm. For now they are just gonna discuss."
The car was moving quickly down the road, finding its way between other cars, parked or moved. If only the car wasn't a military one, and the men inside were wearing their uniforms, the police would have stopped them a while ago.
Soap noticed how tensed up everyone in the car was, so he turned on the music, playing Bad girls M.I.A. thing that made Ghost throw him a bad look.
"What? You're driving fast, I wanna get the whole Fast and Furious vibe."
"How the fuck did you become a damn soldier?"
"I do my job exceptionally, LT, but I don't just stay in silece or stare into the abyss. You should try do more than that."
"I do a lot of shit OUT of missions."
"This does not disturb the mission."
Ghost just shrugged, turning his attention back to the road. He was tensed, and he didn't even understand why. He couldn't be worried for Evelynn, he didn't give a damn about her.
Or did he?
He wasn't sure about his feelings, he never understood the concept of feelings in general, they just weren't his thing. The fact that now he had to deal with them was pissing him off.
All he wanted was to catch this guy and send her back home. He didn't want to deal with her and those feelings anymore.
Ghost parked the car close enough to the motel, leaving it, along with the boys. The area was quiet, a deadly silence surrending them.
"Evelynn how's stuff going?"
"Yes."
"Are you with Il Diavolo now?"
"That's right sir. I want to apologize for giving up on the packages."
"Alright, we are coming in."
The girl was sitting at the table in front of a tall blonde man, dressed up fully black. He was staring back at her, the silence killing her.
"So? Did you want to see me?" The man asked, leaning back in his seat.
"Evelynn, how's stuff going?" Ghost's voice rang through her earpiece.
"Yes."
"Are you with Il Diavolo now?"
She fixed her voice, shifting in her seat uncomfortable. The man just looked at her, rising an eyebrow as he was waiting for her to continue.
"That's right sir. I want to apologize for giving up on the packages."
"Alright, we are coming in."
"Hmm? And how did you change your mind like this? Did you feel... threatened by my men?"
"T... threatened? No no, of course not."
But as much as she forced herself to keep her calm, she was still visibly intimidated and threatened, not only by his men, but him.
His lips curled up into an ironic smirk and his green eyes fixed her siluette. He found it hilarious how scared she was. But fear was a good way to keep her working for him.
Shortly multiple gunshots rang around the motel, the atmosphere getting agitated as well. She quickly turned her head to the door, rising her eyebrows, hope finally appearing on her face.
On the other hand, Il Diavolo stood up, slapping the table with both his hands, looking down at her furiously.
"You fucking bitch! This is your fault isn't it?!"
"I don't know what you're talking about."
"Oh don't act all clueless! You know exactly what I'm talking about!"
The girl just smiled at him, as the door of their room got broken down, the four men walking inside. All rifles were pointed to his head, making the blonde man to rise his hands in surrender.
"You're gonna pay for this..."
"Thank you for your help Evelynn." Ghost said. "We will take you home and you can turn back to your life."
Even though that was his wish, to get rid of her as soon as possible, Ghost's chest felt heavy as he spoke, like he didn't really want it to happen. Those weird feeling were confusing him to hell and back.
But she wasn't far either. Even though she missed her old life, she didn't want to leave completely. She knew once she went home she wasn't going to see them ever again, and that thought was slowly killing her.
"Glad I could help you, boys."
