"Girl there ain't no way he did that!" Jasmine said, as she took a sip from her iced coffee.
"I'm telling you! He just attacked the guy just because he was making me uncomfortable!" Evelynn responded, as she was preparing another coffee for a customer.
The café wasn't crowded, in fact, there was only another customer besides the barista and her friend, so she afforded talking about the little drink she had with Simon a few nights before.
"Oh my God, keep him. I don't think there could be another man that would care enough to even say a word, let aside attack in the middle of a bar!"
"I know right? I'm planning on dating him. But I'm taking my time." She said as she handed the plastic cup to the man that was waiting for his drink.
He seemed quite invested in the girls conversation, so, even though he ordered the coffee on the go, he decided to sit at one of the tables inside. He barely took any sips from his coffee, as he didn't want to finish it anytime soon.
"Girl what time do you need? This man is straight up down at your feet!"
"Exactly, I wanna have fun a little longer."
"Girl take him before he's gone!"
"Let her have fun! It's obvious he wont disappeared anytime soon." The man finally spoke, before a small sip.
The words made the girls brust out in laughter.
"See? A wise man."
"Pff, then you should come with me at the party tonight. You can have the fun you want and then can get with the guy too."
"I don't know, I'm kinda tired after work..."
"You're too young to just go straight home and skip a party. Enjoy your life!" The man stated again.
"You should take his advice."
"Bet. See you there after my program ends."
The rest of the day she excitedly did her job. She just waited for the day to end and finally leave for the party. Jasmine came back to the café to bring her some clothes 'more appropriate for a party', as she called the black mini dress and the leather jacket.
She took her time in-between her coffees to do her makeup. She started with her primer and her face makeup, something simple, followed by her black eyeliner and eyeshadow.
The door opened, the bell ringing as she was applying on a brown lipstick. She looked up from her hand mirror, only to notice Simon approaching her. His lips curled up into a smile, although he seemed confused.
"Well hey, what's with all this?" He asked, as he looked down at her.
"Hm? I'm going to a party after work, with a friend." She said, as she checked herself again in the mirror, making sure her lipstick didn't end up staining her teeth.
"A party?" He asked, her voice getting lower and deeper.
"Mhm, my friend invited me."
Evelynn soon looked up at him, noticing how his smile was gone, and his arms crossed at his chest. His eyes looked at her venomously, making him like a whole new person.
"You're definitely not going to that party." He split the words.
"Excuse?"
"I said you're not going to that fucking party."
"Who the fuck are you to tell me what to do?"
"Do you want to remind you that you needed me to get rid of that guy at the bar?"
Evelynn widened her eyes, looking at him as she came from behind the counter, exposing her dress. She raised her eyebrows as she crossed her arms.
"I don't fucking need you for protection, Simon. I didn't fucking need you that time either. I am not going to miss a party just because you told me I'm 'not allowed'".
"Well you're definitely not going there dressed like this!"
"How are you going to fucking stop me then? Huh?"
Her words awaken something inside Simon, as his eyes got darker, scarier. In a blink of an eye his hand clenched arond her jaw, holding her tightly.
Her jaw slowly ached, hurting worse and worse with every second. She felt her eyes burning as she struggled to hold the tears in.
"What is it now? Huh?" He asked mockingly, as his lips finally curled up, in a sinister smirk. "If you can't stop this how do you think you can deal with other men at a party, drunk?"
She remained silent, looking at him with wide eyes. Was he right? Did she actually needed him in order to feel safe?
"You need me, Evelynn. You can't take care of yourself alone."
"I...i promised my friend I'm going."
"Well you either call her and say you're not going anymore. Ooor you're taking me with you. And if you do that you better behave."
He let go of her jaw, making her take a deep breath, and a step away from him. The foundation and setting powder covered the redness he caused go to her skin, but the pain didn't go away yet.
"I'll accept this dress only because I'm going. Otherwise I would have sent you home to change."
"I still don't get what's wrong with it..."
"It's fucking short. All guys would have their eyes on you, would approach you."
Maybe I wanted to be approached, she thought, big she was too afraid to say it out loud. She just nodded lightly.
