Evelynn watched Simon approach the counter, his expression darkening when he noticed the mohawk man talking to her. He wasn't annoyed about it, but he was scared he would have told her it was him all along.

Behind him, four other men followed him, Evelynn recognized only Gaz and Roach. At their sight her lips curled up into a smile as she excused to Soap to go hug them tightly.

"Oh my lord!" She exclamed as she held them tightly.

"If this isn't Evelynn, the badass that helped us to catch that guy!" Roach said, letting out a chuckle.

"Man I missed y'all! Why did it take you so much to say anything!"

"We were extremely busy with missions...Gaz almost got killed."

"Yeah, it was crazy!" He laughed, as he messed up her hair.

"I'm so glad you're all alright."

She'd sigh lightly, turning her head to Simon, who just stood there, silent. His face was expressionless, yet his eyes watched her with sadness.

Her heart ached as she looked into his eyes. Despite her promises to herself, that she was going to ignore him a little longer, she couldn't. Instead, she walked up to him, wrapping her arms around his body, holding him tightly.

He widened his eyes surprised, but held her even tighter. His hand gently held her head, caressing her long hair, as all he wanted was to feel her close.

"I'm glad you came out alive...Ghost."

"I couldn't let you alone, could I?" He whispered, tightening the grip. "How did you...?"

"I've seen your dog tag like two weeks ago. Why didn't you tell me?"

"I uh..."

"He was afraid." Soap added, his words making the lieutenant to throw a venomous look to him.

That was what he was known for, being fearless, saying he was afraid it would just ruin his image, especially in front of his teammates.

"That's...not true." He mumbled, but Evelynn just caressed his cheek, pulling him closer.

"It's alright to be afraid, it's normal."

"I'm not afraid, okay?"

"Anyway." Soap started. "Those two are Alejandro and Rodolfo, from Mexico. They helped us during our mission."

"Glad to finally meet you, hermosa."

"Finally?"

"Yeah, Ghost talked a lot about you."

"Aw, so sweet. Nice to meet you guys. I...gotta go back behind that counter, I'm still working." She chuckled.

The soldiers spend a few hours at the café, ordering something new every half an hour, as they didn't want to keep the tables busy for nothing.

Simon spent his hours at the table with the other men, but his eyes were locked to Evelynn's. He watched intensely as the others celebrated their success with coffee, not their ordinary drink of choice, but they had to accept it. They came here for Simon.

And she also watched him, she analyzed him and his face and body, spoting a few bruises and scratches, but nothing serious at least. She was glad he was fine. Fuck it. She was happy he was fine. As much as she wanted to be mad at him, she just couldn't. She loved him for some reason.

At the closing time everyone said their goodbyes, Soap gave Evelynn his number, after making sure Simon didn't see, and walked out, yet the lieutenant remained behind.

"Can I walk you home?"

"I'd appreciate it."

"Listen, I'm sorry about what happened at the party..."

"Don't worry, it's alright. Do it one more time and you're dead though. I'm studying to be a layer, I can use that against you."

He chuckled lightly, grabbing her hand as he walked towards her home. After being so ignored he just wanted to have her close, and holding her hand was definitely helping him feel her that way.

The way home was silent, but comfortable. Having Simon back close to her was bringing her joy, and s comfortable feeling she couldn't express. She didn't like the fact that she felt this way only around him, but she told herself she had to learn to like it, she was going to see him for enough time.

"Will you...stay overnight?"

"I'd love to."
