"And you call me as soon as you land, Jamie Nicole."

I rolled my eyes. "I will, Mama," I promised. "I've made this flight dozens of times. You don't need to worry."

"I don't care if you've taken the flight a million times I won't be able to rest until I know you've both made it safely," she commented with a huff. I could see her pacing the kitchen now, her phone tucked between her cheek and shoulder. She has never done well with flights even the ones she's not on freak her out.

"Okay, Mama," I laughed. "Don't file missing persons report, okay?"

"Don't make me have to, Jamie Nicole." The worst part is I believe she would.

"Now let me talk to Cole."

She didn't have to tell me twice. I pushed the phone into Cole's startled hands. "Hello," he answered, hesitantly. "Yes, yes, we have everything..."

We were a few minutes away from the airport and my stomach was still twisted in knots. It was mostly excitement at this point but some nerves had worked their way in there too.

Mom talked Cole's ear off until we pulled into the private hangar. If it took away some of her anxiety have at it. He was much better at calming her down than me. Since Cole has moved back to town the two of them have been thick as thieves. She calls him, he calls her; they watch The Great British Bake Off together. It's actually quite cute.

I'm glad they get along. Mama was always friendly with my ex, but they weren't nearly as close as she and Cole are. The only way Tony would call my mother out of the blue is if there was some tragic accident.

"Okay, we'll call you as soon as we land." Wide-eyed, Cole covered the receiver and mouthed "Help."

I took the phone from him. "We've got to go, Mama. We'll call you in a few hours. Love you, bye."

"Love you both," she called through the speaker before dropping the line.

I dropped my phone back into my purse. "You've got to learn when to end the call. If you don't cut her off she'll talk forever."

He sighed, resting his head on the headrest. "I'm just glad she wants to talk to me."

"Trust me she loves talking to you. Maybe even more than she loves talking to me." Or Harriet for that matter. Cole has quickly moved up the ranks in Mom's top five favorite people. I'm number one of course, but he might be a close second.

"She doesn't like talking to anyone more than she likes talking to you and that's where we agree."

I smirked, cockily."I am a great person to talk to, aren't I?"

"The greatest," he agreed.

Our driver came to a stop next to a small plane. Plane? Jet? Hell, I don't know, but it was pretty damn fancy. A gray-haired man stood at the bottom of the steps that led up to the plane. He greeted us with a bright smile, his grin creating deep wrinkles around his mouth.

"Good morning, Mr. Walters, nice to see you again," he welcomed us.

"Sampson, how many times have I told you to call me Cole." Cole shook the older man's hand, before introducing me. "This is my girlfriend, Jamie. Jamie, this is our pilot Sampson."

I shook Sampson's hand. "It's nice to meet you, Sampson."

"Have you ever flown private before, Jamie?"

"No, sir, this is my first time."

"I can assure you that you are in great hands. I have been flying for longer than the two of you have been alive and have not had a single crash yet."
