"You're distracting my employees."
For the last week, my two trusted employees had been taking turns coming in and out of my office for their hourly glimpse of Cole who was none the wiser as he worked diligently on his laptop. Now they stared at his turned back from the register. Could I blame them? No. I was finding it hard to focus on my tasks at hand while he was near too.
"Am I?" He looked out my office door. Of course, the minute he looks in their direction they spring to action wiping down counters and windows. "They don't look distracted to me."
"Well, of course, they're not now you're looking at them!" As soon as he turned back around I caught the two of them gaping at the back of his pretty blonde head. I shook my head I guess they could be doing worse. I was just glad we hadn't had any repeat fainting incidents word had gotten around town that Cole had been spotted here and business had picked up ever since. If they want to shop while hoping to get a glimpse of him who am I to stop them.
"I think you're seeing things again," he yawned, stretching his arms over his head. My eyes took that moment to wander across his muscular torso. God, he sure does make a nice piece of eye candy.
"I think I'm ready for a break," he said bringing my eyes back to his face.
"What?" I blinked completely dazed.
"A break," he said again. "Do you want to go to lunch?"
"Oh, yeah, lunch sounds great."
"Great, do you want to go out or order delivery?"
"Let's go out." I pinched the bridge of my nose. Obviously spending so much time in front of a computer is starting to rot my brain. I never thought about Cole this way before now I can't help but notice every amazing thing about him and there's a lot o them. Almost too many, we've been working together for a week and every day it seems I find something new about him. Today it was his forearms. Did you hear that–his forearms? I didn't even know that could be attractive on a man and I'm still not sure but Cole's are. They look so masculine, strong—capable like I said I seriously need to get a grip.
"How about Harriet's?" he suggests, putting his own laptop and tablet away. " I'm in the mood for a cheeseburger."
"Great, let me grab my purse." Lunch would be a welcome distraction for me and would prevent me from drooling over Cole for another hour. I haven't gone to Harriet's for lunch in months. It's been impossible for me to leave my desk around this time, but with Melody and Destiny taking on responsibilities I can do more.
After getting my bag, Cole and I snuck out the back. With so many of his fans coming through the front we decided it would be best if he parked in the back from now on. It was working well so far he can come and go as he pleases without being swarmed by fans begging for a picture.
We arrived right in the middle of the lunch rush. Harriet's was a Mckenzie, Michigan staple so everyone comes here for lunch. And for obvious reasons, everything on the menu was to die for, and I should no I've tried it all. You don't get to have Harriet as a Godmother without being a test dummy a time or two.
As soon as we walked in all eyes were on us, or Cole I should say, since spending more time with him the extra eyes on us has been much easier to ignore. Cole never seemed to be bothered so why should I be. We found a booth in the back and immediately made our way toward it.
"Well look who it is, " Harriet stood at the edge of our booth her signature red apron tied securely around her waist and her hair was twisted into an impossibly tight bun at the base of her neck. "It must be my lucky day. What are you two doing here?"
