The Disastrous Life of Saiki K - Saiki Kusuo & Nendou Riki
Shorter than usual because of my Animal Crossing fixation

"Hey, buddy!"
Not you.
Saiki had just opened his door, only to come face to face with the person he least wanted to see right now: Nendou. It was the peak at winter in Japan, so he was bundled up in his dark grey parka. The bright orange beanie on his head was new, though.
"Saiki!" His mom called from behind him. "I had to call your friend over so you would sleep!"
In what world does inviting Nendou over lead to sleep? Honestly, he didn't know what goes on inside his parents' heads half the time. And he literally hears their thoughts on the daily.
"I'll make you two some food!"
At 9 o'clock at night?
"When else?"
Yeah, we're not dealing with this. Saiki pulled on his winter jacket and pushed Nendou out the door and onto the sidewalk, shutting the door behind him.
"Do you normally stay up this late, buddy?" Nendou asked, him and Saiki now standing outside the house.
Well of course. Saiki replied. Frankly, he didn't know why his mom was just picking up on his bad habits now. Being a psychic and all, Saiki didn't have to sleep if he didn't want to.
"Sleep is good for the soul, y'know. Can't live without some good sleep every night."
That's debatable.
"Nah, it's just life, man. It is nice out here, though. No lights on, just us and the stars."
Saiki had to admit Nendou had a point. The world is prettier when everyone is asleep.
"You said it, buddy." Nendou said, turning his gaze from the stars to Saiki. "I can see why that's your reason to stay awake so late."
Saiki's eyes shifted over to his friend. I prefer it when I'm the only one still awake.
Nendou smirked. "Aw come on, buddy! That's no way to think! Everyone needs friends, no matter how many or how few. Sometimes just one good friend is enough."
Yet somehow I ended up with six of them.
"You can never have too many friends either, Saiki." Nendou turned to him.
Saiki just frowned, unimpressed.
"Come on. Let's take a walk." Nendou said, slipping his warm hand into Saiki's cold one. Saiki blinked as he tried to comprehend the act of affection.
Don't you already have a boyfriend? Saiki asked as Nendou began leading him down the sidewalk.
"Man, nothin' gets past you, eh, Saiki? I don't mind though. Me and Hairo, who would have thought. It's proof you can be together, no matter who you are."
Saiki just rolled his eyes. Romance plagued the lives of everyone he knew. Despite Nendou's reputation as a moron, he'd somehow managed to fall in love too. Saiki didn't see the point of romance, if he was being honest.
And if you don't want to be with someone at all? Saiki was genuinely curious. Certainly someone like Nendou wouldn't have an answer-
"That's alright too, pal. Love isn't easy, and it certainly isn't for everyone. Whatever makes you happy is important." Nendou replied, looking over at Saiki with a smile.
