Alex's p.o.v
Phil must be shitting himself by this point. His dad was an intimidating guy already, then you add flaring nostrils and a raised fist...I shivered.
Scary stuff.
Walking down the pavement, my hand brushed along the stone wall. Phil had to deal with all of this shit at school and home. In addition, he finds the time to manage to update his YouTube account and keep his adoring fans happy.
Walking towards the white door with a glass panel in the centre, I peered through the blurry glass. The coast was clear.
Creeping through the doorway, I closed the door quietly, before I snuck up the stairs. Loud shouts came from the kitchen. It was baking day. I winced and stopped whenever the stairs creeked. The floorboards moaned as I made my way towards my bedroom. All of the bedrooms were on the second floor. Mine was at the very end of the corridor after you turned left at the stairs.
Someone was opening their door behind me, so I did what I thought was best. Running down the hallway, I slammed the door shut. I messed around with the lock until it was secure and bolted. Suddenly, heavy footsteps came towards the door.
Mrs Clinton hammered on the door. I sat down on the corner of my bed, hoping she would take the hint and piss off.
Mrs Clinton was a skeleton. She was so skinny that you could breathe on her and she would probably fall over. She was a witch. She had long, bony fingers with sharp daggers attached to them. It hurt when she grabbed your arm tightly. Her face was covered with wrinkles and spots. She was a she-devil.
'Open this door now Alex, or suffer the consequences!' She spoke in her low, menacing voice. I rolled my eyes. What was the worst she could do? 'Don't make me ban you from seeing Phil because I won't hesitate.' She threatened, but I was used to empty threats. Everyone used Phil as a way to discipline me. She does realise that I am going to rebel against her, regardless of what Phil said or if I saw him.
I was fine if people thrashed and insulted me, but if they laid a hand on Phil or even gave him a dirty look...they were as good as dead.
'Why should I open the damn door? What's the bloody point?' I replied, knowing that she was not going to leave me alone.
'I only want to talk about your little incident today.' She said softly. I bit my bottom lip. No one could see my busted face. My fingers traced the outline of my nose. If they did then I would be done for. But what about if she was on about my "escape".
'I don't know what you're talking about,' I stated simply, it was the worst lie ever.
'You know full well what I'm on about Mister, why did you skip school?' She questioned. I wanted to bang my head against the wall. Why could people not mind their own God damn business! Was that too much to ask?
'Go fuck yourself you ugly cow.' I whispered quietly. She banged on the door fiercely.
Catching me by surprise, she screamed, 'I heard that!' She didn't miss anything. I looked around my dull, simplistic room. I had a desk for studying (not that I did much of it), a wardrobe for my clothes and my bed for sleeping in. I had asked for a mini fridge, but they refused to give me one. Even when I brought one they stole the receipt, took it back and never gave me my money back. Cheeky sods.
'Please tell me why you did it Alex, I promise I won't get mad.' She pleaded with me. I've heard that one before. She can just jog on and go find someone else to bother.
'Alex James Carter! Open this door now!' She screamed in a high, shrill voice. I held my hands over my ears. She continued to do this for a while.
Reluctantly, I groaned and marched over to the door. I unlocked it and swung it open to reveal a tall, shrivelled lady or demon woman. Her eyes were narrowed and her hands were on her hips.
