I walked back to the relaxation in defeat. I hoped you would take me back with open arms once again, but I have confirmed our time has ceased. I would swim hours to go back to that ethereal place. My home has died, so I wish to return to yours. My home was never a home without Maybelline, and now that she's gone I invite you to allow me in. Where are you Karl Jacobs?
~~~~~~~~~~
The grain crunches beneath my weight. I breath in the fresh air and engage with the sweet smell of pollen. Bees buzz around the beautiful display of tulips and sunflowers. There's way too many kinds of flowers to count. From roses to lilies to lilacs to alliums, the flower field has it all. And the best part about it is, it's free.
The beauties of nature are sometimes held against us. Our own mankind disregards the beautiful mother nature and charges a currency to show their plot of land. Of course everything comes with a price but this is the Earth! I believe our own dirt and soil should not be held away from us. People selling views should be held more accountable for their actions. Even better, they should hold themselves accountable.
A calm breeze passes by, guiding my hair to float. I can hear the birds chirping from above, and see the murky clouds. The dark shade of the fluffy puffs signals that it's going to rain. And rain it did. Drops of tears soon fall from the sky. The pace slowly getting more and more intense.
Knowing I don't have much time before I'm soaked, I quickly walk to my favorite spot. The dandelion field. I run, switching my bag from resting on my back to clenched in my hands. I protect it from the rain with my body.
I finally arrive to the sunflower section, my favorite. Although many of them have been replaced with weeds and dandelions for this season, it's always great to know that this area will soon be a patch of nicely vegetated place. I look for shelter and find a nearby tree. I rush under it for cover and sit down on the somewhat muddy ground. The leaves don't block all the rain, but that's fine with me.
Feeling like the area was relatively dry, I bring out my notebook from my backpack. I grab a pencil from the bottom of the bag as well, and start sketching. I always like to draw my surrounding so that I can always have a way to remember what I saw. Sometimes relying on memory isn't the best, and a digital picture isn't the same as real life.
I draw the not so sunflower looking flower field, trying to pick up every detail with the led of my pencil. I've noticed over the years the difference of the field during the seasons is relatively similar than my drawings last year. It reminds me that there is always a cycle, and life keeps moving on and on. It's sometimes good to know I've lasted another day.
I look around one last time, seeing if there should be any additions to my drawing. Suddenly a weird object catches my eye. To my left is a big marble tub, filling by the second. I recognize it as... A bath?
I am intrigued by the suspicious bath, so I take a closer look. Once again I notice that it's filling up with water by the second. I also pick up that there are many sunflowers and vines floating at the top of the water. Why would perfect sunflowers be present at a season like this? Sure, spring is coming soon, but it's definitely not Spring yet. Plus they're cut so that the flower is only there. No stem and no leaves other from the vines.
I don't realize it, but I watch the tub fill all the way up. The water starts oozing out of the bath and flooding the fertile land below. For some reason I wished something would happen when it filled, but it didn't, like I should have expected.
Becoming bored of the suspicious piece, I go back to my position under the tree and view my drawing.
Slosh!
Swish!
Splash!
My gaze turns back to the bath. I can hear the movement of water and see some ripples form. I assume it's just the rain hitting the body of water and return my eyes to my paper.
"Psst!"
I hear a shuttle whisper make it to my ears. I ignore the voice, assuming it was just me in my mind.
"Psst!"
There it is again. This time I look back and- oh my god.
A boy covered in sunflower-vines somehow had emerged from the bath. You would think he would look murky but oh- he looked gorgeous. The vines hugged his body and the sunflowers added a pop of color to his complexion. I was so memorized I almost ignored the fact he came from a bath, almost.
"Hello human! What's your name?"
I pause for a minute before responding.
"...Sapnap..."
"That's a unique name! I like it!"
We both stay silent for a bit, our eyes lingering on each other he breaks the silence.
"So, I noticed you were alone. Would you like some company?"
I go between two choices, yes or no. The obvious choice is no, but I am lonely. Plus even thought this is my alone time I never get to socialize, I guess this would be the moment to do so.
"Sure, I guess..."
"Great! Just come a bit closer!"
I follow his instructions with no hesitation, thinking he would just want to hear me better. My theories were proved wrong when he dived down into the bath and disappeared.
I looked down in the water curiously. Where could he have gone?
Suddenly a hand reaches out from the bath, grabbing me by the collar. It tugs me into the water with no mercy, unlike the pretty male that once stood before me. I want to scream my lungs out but am not able to do so, due to me being underwater.
The bath goes down for miles, I couldn't tell you how long. I start gasping for air and getting nothing but water. It tastes nice and fresh, the best I've ever tasted actually. But the flavor doesn't really matter when you can barley breath.
I gasp and gasp and gasp, inhaling more water by the second. My lungs feel filled up to the brim. I feel like they're about to pop. I can barley see the surface from above, but still reach out in desperation.
'I am not ready to die,'
I repeat in my head.
'I am not ready, I am not ready.'
Suddenly a tingling calming sensation is pulled through me. I gain my ability to breath, yet I am still in the water. I look around confused about my environment. I soon get launched. Out into an unknown marsh world.
I land on the ground not so graciously. But then I hear that voice ring in my ears again.
"Hello lonely boy!"
