"Because Maya, we can't do whatever we want." Riley said. I knew she was just looking out for me when she said it, and she was hoping I took class seriously, but I didn't. "Fine." I got up and left as soon as the bell rang. Walking to my next class, Farkle caught up with me. "Maya, please tell me you aren't getting into any trouble." Farkle said. "Not yet."

I got to the lunch line quick. Me and Riley were talking about our morning classes we didn't have together, trying to help each other with our later work. After getting our food and sitting down, Smackle sat down with a lunch she had brought from home. "So, Riley, are you excited for science?" Smackle asked. She goofily nodded. "Science is hard today," I started, "Well, probably not for you Smackle. But it was hard for me." I said. Smackle suddenly screamed. "Sorry!" Farkle yelled. He had snuck up behind her and gave her a kiss on the top of her head. "Oh, hi Farkle." She said, turning her head to look at him.

"Maya, are you okay? You look kinda..." Zay said sitting down. "Yeah. You've looked kind of pale all day." Lucas said, sitting in between Riley and Zay. "Maybe you should go down to the nurses office." Farkle said. "I'm fine you guys." I said, lifting my hand off my hand. To be honest, I haven't felt good since I got to Riley's house. "No, you've looked sick all day. I'm taking you to the office." Zay said. He got up and pulled me out of my chair. "Ow!" I yelled at him when I fell in my butt. He helped me up than dragged me all the way to the hallway. "Zay, let go of me! I'm fine." I tried to jerk my arm out of his hand, but he had a really good grip. After trying a few more times I just gave up. I dragged my feet as he pulled me.

"Hello, what are you two doing here today?" The nurse said. "Can you check her temperature or something?" Zay asked. I wacked him. He flinch but stood still. "Of course. Do you not feel good?" She asked. "Not great." I admit. She put the thermometer in my ear and pulled it back out. "101. I'll call your parents. Name please?" She said. "Maya Hart." I responded. Zay gave me a little side hug and wished I felt better. Than he thanked the nurse and went back to lunch. I pulled my phone out and told Riley I was going home. She wanted to come see me, but I told her that I was fine. I put my phone back in my pocket and laud my head back against the wall.

"Your parents are here sweetie." The nurse called. Riley had gotten my backpack and coat out of my locker and dropped it off for me. I slipped them both on my back and went outside. It felt like I had stepped into a blizzard. "Hey kiddo." Shawn said when I opened the passenger door. I slung my bag of my shoulder and sat down. I shut the door and put on my seatbelt and we started driving. "So, what's wrong?" Shawn asked. "I don't feel great and I have a fever." I put my head back on the seat and closed my eyes.
