My sickness totally flew by. Shawn made it so much fun and he was home the entire time. Mom was fun to. But she came home a lot later. And I could finally go back to school for Friday. I got ready quick and took the short walk to the subway.

"Hey Maya!" Lucas called. I turned around. He was sitting on one of the benches by the stairs. I went and sat next to him. "Hey Ranger Rick." He rolled his eyes. "Can we go one day without this?" He asked. "You got three, now I can call you anything." He nodded. We just sat there until Riley and Zay got there. Farkle just got his learners permit, so his mom always lets him go pick up Smackle and drive to school, than she drives the car back to her house. We all got on the subway and talked the entire time.

"No. I think he should've been sent to the office." Riley said. In history Zay said some very mean things. When Riley went against him because she thought he was wrong, he was told to go in the hallway and cool down. But Riley has told me all day he should have been sent to the office. "He was speaking his mind. Like the first amendment says, freedom of speech." I told her. "Perhaps those were rude to say, but Maya is right, he can say what he thinks is right." Smackle said. We all walked out if the locker room. We met the boys in the corner of the gym. There was this laying tension, one there has been since second per when Riley and Zay fought. "Alright this is getting weird." Farkle said after about two minutes. "Yeah can you just talk it out?" Smackle yelled.

"Listen Riley, I shouldn't of said that but it was unfair. Whites made blacks do all their dirty work while they sat around and drank tea."
"Yeah but did black people fight in a war?" She countered. "Yes actually. They made half if the black people stay and work on farms of the snobs while the other half had to go fight for white people. It didn't include them, that shouldn't of been forced on them."
"They got freedom though!" Zay just shook his head. "Yeah, but not for another 60 years!"

"Riles, give up. Just admit that people were jerks in the 1800s." Riley stalked away. I looked down at my shoes and backed up a few steps. "Maya, you can't be mad at yourself. You know how Riley is. She gets an idea and she keeps it." I nodded. "I'm serious Maya. You can't let her actions bother you." I looked up at Farkle. "But she makes all her actions off of my judgment." Farkle pulled me in for a hug. "Not this time Maya."
