~ Max POV ~
"I'm stuffed." I let out as I lean back in my chair of the table we were sitting at. We just had dinner in a cute little Italian restaurant. Me and El shared a large pepperoni pizza. Robin and Nancy both had some sort of pasta dish. But when I get to choose between pasta or pizza- I'll always choose pizza.
During dinner nothing special really happend. Between Robin and Nancy I meant Ofcourse. Only a few questionable looks and some stupid jokes they both laughed about. Nancy has put her little sailor bear on the table as she had stared at it quite a few times. I thought back about what Nancy said about the bear and what she had done. She had said that it reminded her of someone and after that kissed it. Now we, I'm talking Robin, El and I, were super excited since that could mean Nancy liked Robin back. But then I started thinking. The only competition Robin is worried about with Nancy right now is her best friend and her ex boy friend- Steve. Who also had worked at the scoops ahoy.- so the little things Nancy said about the bear, could have been about Steve as well and I think Robin noticed that too, since she was a bit less excited and happy during dinner.
"Thanks for dinner Nance. I really felt like a winner." Robin chuckles slightly as she laid down her fork. "No problem, you deserved it. You beat me in air hockey after all. Hope you two enjoyed that pizza too?" Nancy asked El and I. We both nodded. "It was so good, but I'm really full." El grins. "Good. Well It's time to go home now girls." Nancy announced as she had paid the bill. El and I looked a bit disappointed at eachother. They still weren't together- did we miss something? Could we have done something else? I think we did everything we could, but if Nancy didn't like Robin like that, we couldn't change her mind.
"I'll drive you all home alright?" Robin suggest as we all walk to her car. Well it was her parents car she had borrowed for the evening, but still. Wait a second. That was it. There was still a slight chance and I took it. "Can you bring El and I home first? We uh- have a bedtime." I lied as I look at El to play along since she frowned at me. "Oh yeah sure, you okay with that Nance? I'll bring you home right after." Robin asks as she faces Nancy. "Yeah for sure. Not a problem, thank you." She says as she was carrying her little bear in her hands. We had put our own plushies we won in the car before dinner, but Nancy refused to leave it in the car. Which was kind of sweet.
On our way home we listened to some radio and sang along to some songs. El was snuggled up against me as she played with my hair while singing along, which made me smile. Even if it didn't work out between Nance and Robs, I really had a fun day. I needed that. Besides, I always joke that Nancy and Robin are my two moms. Which is obviously a joke. But they do feel like sisters to me and I appreciated them and loved them like family. I wasn't really a big fan of expressing my feelings all that often, but since this fun day had almost come to an end, I felt like I had to say something.
"Hey, I really appreciate you all. Like for real. This day was super fun. I don't want to sound cheesy, but I you 3 are like some of the few people that mean the world to me. And I wanted to thank you all for that. For being there for me and for supporting me. I just love you all. That's all." I smile as I feel a peck on my cheek from El. "I love you too my love. The same counts for you. " She smiles. Robin looks through her mirror back at me as she smiles. "You better stop before I cry and crash the car." She chuckles. "Thanks Red. You mean the world to me too. And ofcourse I love you too" She adds with a smile. "What she said, except the crashing part." Nancy chuckles. "I'm really happy I'm in your life Max and that you're in mine." Nancy smiles. I started to feel tears come up as I quickly repressed them. "Damn I didn't meant to get this deep. But I appreciate it." I chuckle.
"This is your stop love birds. Don't forget your plushies in the back." Robin points out as she looks at us. "Thanks Robs. Have a great night and see you soon. We should do this more often." I reply with a smile as El got the plushies out from the back. "We should. Goodnight ladies." Robin grins as she waves us off. "Goodnight, see you two soon." Nancy smiles. "Bye! Drive safe." El waves as she holds the plushies tight in her other hand. They drive off as we made our way inside, since hopper was already waiting at the door. "Did you two have a fun day?" He asks when we walk inside. "It was very fun. But we are pretty tired so we'll go to bed. We'll tell you everything tomorrow!" El smiles at her dad as she gave him a hug. "Alright kid, go rest. You had a long day." He says as he kisses the top of her head. "Goodnight Hop." I smile as he gave me a pat on my head. "Night kid." He smiles.
