"Minnie, anak, you have to drink," Her mom tried to urge the tired girl to drink some water, Minnie groaned, she wore a sickly expression, under all the covers.
"Mama.." Minnie croaked, calling out for her mom, who nodded sadly, holding the girl's forehead, which burned like a newly opened stove.
Her mom tipped the glass of water to the sick girl's lips, feeling relief when Minnie sipped the water slowly. "Can you eat, anak? Your dad made lugaw.." Minnie felt so out of it, her world seemed blurry and out of place, slipping in and out of consciousness.
Minnie could only whimper out a small sound of pain, before she shook her head, feeling a headache coming back to taunt her while she was conscious.
Her eyes felt heavy, unable to stay open, even when the girl was forcing it. Minnie felt weak and helpless, unable to stay awake even for a meal.
"Minnie? Minnie, stay awake, anak—" Her mom tried to keep the girl awake, as the girl drifted into unconsciousness, unable to keep her eyelids open, as if closing at their own command.
Minnie's mom shook her lightly, trying to get her daughter to wake up, "Minnie? Wake up, sweetheart, please?.." Her mom felt like panicking, suddenly being made aware that Minnie wasn't responding, too unconscious and too weak to respond to her mother.
