CHAPTER THIRTEEN

HARRY'S P.O.V

Liam.

Fuck.

I inhaled a sharp breath, rising to my feet. More shots could be heard along with some more screams. The music and the sounds of terrified people clashed into one, a haunting melody. I grabbed at the curtain, hesitating for a single moment.

"No, no, don't leave me here," Valerie gasped out, reaching to me. "Please."

"I'm not going to let anything happen," I replied. "But--we're going to have to change that deal around." I looked at Valerie. Her eyes grew wide. I couldn't even imagine what was going through her mind. I knew she went through too much these last couple of days--I didn't know how she was still standing. She looked at me with nothing but anxiety and confusion.

"Oh, Harry..." the voice sang out.

"Is--is that--" She licked her lips, not removing her eyes from mine. "Is that Liam?"

Her voice was weak. I stayed quiet.

"You think you could fucking set me up, huh?" Liam threatened.

Another shot, more screams.

"I will kill you and that dumb bitch."

I took out my phone and began to text Niall, trying my hardest to not make any noise. Fuck.

"Come out--maybe I'll let some of these people live," Liam announced, loudly.

LIAM'S HERE.

HE'S SHOOTING.

I pressed send, putting it into my pocket again and waited patiently for Liam to continue. If I ran out like a madman, I could die. Right there. He wouldn't hesitate to shoot. But, if I were to wait it out, I could make this work. Niall could come and take him, I could sneak out, I could end it. But I just had to shut up, and wait. Just let nature take its course.

On the way

Fuck, how long was that going to take? Liam sounded way too fucking close and he was acting insane. This fucking idiot. Did he know what he's doing to himself?

I needed to think fast.

"Get up." I whispered and instructed Valerie with an extended hand. She jumped up quickly, grabbing me. I could feel her shaking, and her brown eyes were wet.

"I'm fucking scared," she trembled.

"Hey--" I squeezed her hand to ease her nerves. "Just listen to me, follow me. You'll be safe. Okay?"

"I can't trust you," she said, eyes closed. "God, you know I can't."

I knew she couldn't, and I knew I couldn't ever make her do that. I wasn't to be trusted--her intuitions were right; unfortunately so. "I know, doll," I pursed my lips and then reached for the curtain again, slowly.

"Go look for him, I know this fucker is in here somewhere," Liam demanded. Wow, who the fuck is willingly listening to this piece of shit? I clenched my jaw and then grabbed Valerie's hand, tugging her. "Come, now. Hurry."
