You know that feeling you get when you know something bad is about to happen?

That ominous, overwhelming premonition–that quiet understanding.

The knowing of the unknown.

It finds its way to sink inside of your bones. Nestle into the hidden crook and cranny inside of your brain. Spreads to your fingers; to your toes. Like pulsating static.

It's like everything's in slow motion–like your body is slowing down time to take in what's about to happen.

It's amazing what the human body does; how it processes emotion. How it prepares you for imminent chaos.

But even then, I wasn't prepared enough.
