I woke up at half-passed noon, and when I did, I practically flew out of bed. I pull out my duffle bag, which I hid under my bed, and set it on the window seal. After that, I unlocked the window and cracked it open a tad. I texted Drew last night- telling him to honk when they're here, and I'll escape through the window. He never responded, but I knew that he'd see the message. I'm just amazed at this miracle that is getting me out of here.
------
An old, yet loud, honking signaled my time to escape this hell-hole. I took my bag and pushed it out the window first. When I heard it 'thunk', meaning it hit the ground, I slid open the window even more.
"Here this goes." I whisper to myself.
I jumped.
I expected it to be super bad-ass and in slow motion, like the movies, but nope. I just hit the ground- hard.
"Jay!" I hear Matthew desperately yell.
I stand up and see Matthew in the driver's seat, waving his arm out the window. I guess that means I need to hurry up. Once again, I take ahold of my bag and make a mad dash for the car. Before I reached the back dear door, someone kicked it open for me. Without looking back to see what I'm leaving behind, I slide into the backseat and quickly close the door. When the door was closed, Matthew sped off.
"Jay!" Jax screeched.
I'm in shock.
"Did you really think we'd leave you here forever?" Matthew smiled in the rear view mirror.
I looked to my left and smiled at the sight of Drew being next to me again. Without answering Matt's question, I hugged Drew like its been decades, and rest my head on his chest.
"Haha, I knew she'd miss you!" Matthew laughed.
"I missed you guys so much, I dot think you'll ever understand!" I cried out.
"We- probably missed you more." Jax challenged.
"Not remotely possible." I laughed.
"Can we get to all of the mushy-gushy-huggy-lovey stuff when we get home? For now, we need to catch up." Matthew said.
Right after saying that, Drew begins playing with my hair, which, in result, makes me blush.
"Oh, Matthew, tell me about your girlfriendddddd...." I playfully teased.
He sighed, shook his head, then chuckled.
"Sidney's cool. You'll really like her. I met her about two weeks after we lost you-"
Lost me.
That phrase repeated over and over and over again.
"She goes to our school and I've seen her around before, but I finally talked to her. We've been 'dating' for a little over a month now." Matthew finished explaining.
"That's cuteeeee." I awed. "How about you Jax..."
"Oh, you know me." Jax leaned back in the passenger seat. "I get around, but there's not special girl in my life. Aw, Jay, you're the special girl in my life!"
Drew's grip tightened.
Is Drew... jealous?
"Boooo!" Matthew yelled. "Lame! Cheesy!"
"I try," Jax chuckled. "How about you, Jay?"
I laugh.
"Don't laugh! You're this short, adorably shy, hilarious, crazy-haired teen! You won't be single for long, trust me." Matthew sympathized.
"Ah, shit. My poor hair. I need to re-dye it." I thought out loud.
"It doesn't look that bad." Drew reassured.
"Thanks." I mumble.
"What was your school like?" Matthew asks as he makes a turn to get onto an interstate.
"Weird." I cough. "Yet boring. The school itself is more colorful than Forge, but there was no character... Or art classes."
"Well that sucks." Matthew responds.
"I don't know what I'm going to do when you guys have to leave me." I sigh as I finally get off of Drew.
"Well, I'll tell you what you're not gonna do. You're not gonna fuckin' fall apart because we're gone." Matthew boldly stated.
"Besides, it will only be two years. Then you can move in when one of us." Jax adds.
"Only." I sarcastically mocked as I roll my eyes.
"Hey, you can move with one of us and go to a new school... Again." Jax shrugged.
"Not legally." I sigh out.
"Then lets not talk about that until we have to." Matthew decided.
"I'm taking a nap." Jax blurts as he leans back in his chair.
"I won't wake you up when we make stops." Matthew warns.
"Oh, I was going to sleep too." I hesitantly say.
"That's fine. Go ahead. You need sleep anyways."
-------------
My eyes slowly flutter open. I see snow, lots and lots of snow. The road isn't that iced though, it's just damp from melted snow.
"Drew... No one woke me up. Where are we?" I ask as I tap his shoulder.
He turns around and smiles at me.
"Do you not know, darling?"
I shake my head, "No."
"Don't you recall your mother driving you through here?" He raises and eyebrow.
"No."
His face falls and he now looks sad.
"She use o drive you and Jenna over to Michigan for Christmas. Don't you remember?" Drew speaks with a shocked expression.
"I remember. I just don't remember telling you." I softly say.
"There's a lot of things you think we don't know, but we do."
"I though- I though we were going h-home." I stutter.
"Is this not home?"
"Umm, not exactly."
The car stops and Drew mutters some curse words under his breath.
"What the hell, Matt?! What's wrong?" Drew scoffs.
Matthew angrily turns around in his chair.
"Jax isn't breathing." Matthew stoically announces.
"What the fuck?!" I yell in disbelief. "Help him!"
Matthew turns off the car, and then proceeds to unbuckle Jax.
"He forgot his meds!" Drew realizes. "Shit! I should've reminded him!" Drew cries as he holds his head in his hands.
"What's going on?" I cry.
"J-Jax has..." Drew couldn't finish his statement.
"Doesn't matter now. There's nothing we can really do. We need to get rid of the-"
"Hold up!" I interject. "T-This is insane! We can't just 'dump him'! Revive him! Call 911!"
"So we can go to jail for kidnapping you? So you can live with your aunt for the rest of your life? I don't think so!" Matthew scolded me.
"We can't just let him die!" I argue.
"He's - already- dead!" Matthew snapped.
"Are you a doctor?"
"No!"
"Then call a fucking ambulance!"
"We'll go to jail when they find out that we took you away from your legal guardian!"
"So you'd rather Jax die?" I challenge.
Matthew, in one quick motion, slapped me. I was pushed back and hit my head on the car seat's head-rest.
"What the fuck?!" Drew yelled.
"It's her own damn fault! If I had never met her, Jax wouldn't have died and we wouldn't be in this mess! I hate you Jay Morrison!"
"How could you say that?! You're heartless!" Drew scolded.
"No, I just see things for what they are!" Claimed Matthew.
My cheek began to sting like a real bitch. I'm tightly shutting my eyes in hopes that the pain with subside.
"You just hit our best friend!"
Matthew rolled his eyes at this.
"This can't be real." I say out loud as I shake my head.
"Shut up, Jaylee!" Matthew snapped again.
"Fuck this." I curse.
I kicked open the car door and got out of the car. I then angrily slammed it shut.
Snow continued to fall as well as night. I take a look down the winding road just to see nothing.
Then- the car starts up again.
I throw my arms up I'm confusion.
Matthew revved the engine a few times. What does he want?
He revved it once more then drove off.
"Are you kidding me?!" I yell at the car. It's too late. The car is now in motion and growing further and further away from me. What have I done?
-------
I'm awake again, but not on the ground, in a car.
I'm so confused.
"Jay-Jay! Are y- can you hear me?" Drew's voice asks as he shakes me by my shoulders.
I had to blink a few times for my vision to focus. My head is pounding and I swear to God, I can hear my heart beating.
"You guys came back for me?" I questioned.
Drew tilted his head and gave me a strange look.
"We've.. Been..here." Jax half-laughed.
I raised an eyebrow.
"What the fuck, guys! You left me in the snow! You left me to die!"
"Are you on any medications?" Matthew quietly asked me in possibly the most serious tone I've ever heard.
Damn, that was a dream?
"Okay," I excitedly started. "So I had this dream.."
