Olivia was standing back to back with Rhinestone Cowgirl, with Caliber and Jordan staring them down on either side. Circling around them like sharks. Jordan had his lasers ready to fire, and Caliber looked just about ready to break them each in half like twigs. There was a set of deep slash marks on his left cheek, still wet with blood. His brow was furrowed, eyes gone cold.
"Just do it already," Olivia snapped.
Jordan twisted his head to look at her. Brought up his hands and aimed at her. The palms glowed with intensity. All of whom was once her friend was gone. Maybe he's right, maybe my friend is dead.
The lasers shot forth, but before they could reach her she looked back at Caliber, ripped open a portal and caught the blasts like basketballs in a hoop. She jumped into the portal after them. Waited for a heartbeat, and then reopened the portal right behind Caliber.
The blasts from the lasers fired into his back and knocked him forward, just enough so that Rhinestone Cowgirl could place her palms upon his chest plate.
Olivia leapt out and landed knelt on both knees, and with one hand on the ground. Watched as Caliber's suit turned from an ominous killing machine to a pile of silver glitter. He fell into the pile of glitter, wearing nothing but a white tank top and little black shorts.
"Hah! Hah!" Her partner laughed while pointing.
Jordan flew up into the air a few feet above them, aimed his palms down at them, and cracked his neck both ways.
"Clever...Clever indeed," he said.
"Why thank you!" Olivia replied, elbowing her partner.
"I hate to have to kill you," Jordan said, nodding to Rhinestone Cowgirl. "But your friend has turned on me. So now all bets are off."
A few sparks of green electricity caught her eye. Then Jitters sped up between her and Rhinestone Cowgirl, grabbed them both around the waist. Olivia closed her eyes as everything around her sped up, turned to streaks and dots instead of buildings and cars.
"I'm gonna puke!" Rhinestone Cowgirl whined.
"Go ahead!" Jitters responded as they skidded to a halt inside the alleyway in which they'd met before.
The team was all gathered there, looking beaten and worn but a little more confident than before. Wild Claw had more poise in her posture. Mason was downing a bottle of water. Jake was talking to Total Chaos, and looked excited about the recent events, she knew he was excited because he was moving his hands a lot. Either that or he was quite angry. Sometimes she couldn't tell the difference with him.
"What's the sitch, guys?" She asked.
"I tried to throw bricks at him," Total Chaos began. "But Lord Daemon is not one to be taken down by brute force. Ve took down Brunhilde, Clouds, and now Caliber. All zat are left are Deadcode and Lord Daemon. Deadcode is basically an extension of him. Ve take down Daemon, Deadcode should return to his normal self."
Wild Claw stepped forward, shook out her fur.
"Have any ideas on how to do that?" She asked.
"Indeed," Total Chaos responded, twirling his handlebar mustache between his fingers. "Have any of you ever heard of a Faraday cage?"
Mason raised his hand.
"Unfortunately, yeah. I know what you're talkin' about. I got dragged to some light show and was volunteered for an experiment. You go in this cage thing, and they light up a bunch of electric coils that zap everything in the room. But you're safe in the cage somehow. And if you try to zap something from inside the cage you can't. Nothing gets in, nothing gets out. Right?"
Total Chaos slapped Mason on the shoulder and threw his head back. Laughed at the sky for a moment.
"Exactly right Living Weapon! Good boy!" He exclaimed.
"So what?" Olivia snapped. "How does some light show experiment help us here?"
"If ve can trap Lord Daemon inside a Faraday cage, his powers will be useless. It'll even break Deadcode from his mind control."
