18. Two warriors by spirit

-"You guard from above, okay?" you asked Vëipa, who let out a croak of agreement and flew off the ground, soaring high into the sky. Now you have protection from above.

-"Are you ready?" Jake called you, getting your attention.

-"Yes." you replied walking past him. -"Come on, we are leading the people."

He followed close behind you as you led the two of you to the top of the herd. You looked over the na'vi to make sure everyone was okay and nothing was stressing them out on the journey. You looked over at the pregnant na'vi that you helped and she was on the pa'li with her husband. You reached the end of the line, being greeted by the ferocious scream of your palulukan greeting you. She was standing at the front with her mate and baby. Rai'uk and his sister were on the male beast.

-"Hey..." you greeted your thanator softly, holding out your hand to her. She let out a purr, resting her nose against your palm. Your relationship with this palulukan was like that with Vëipa, as if you were chosen as her rider. -"Zevä." you turned to Sully who was standing a foot away from you looking in awe at the beast. -"Jake, meet Zevä." you moved out of his way and he looked at you with wide eyes.

The avatar looked from you to the palulukan, meeting the female's watchful gaze. He could feel her probing gaze testing the marine if he was brave enough to approach her. Like Vëipa, he thought. You also felt the tension between the two of you. You tilt your head at Zevä, not expecting her to act like a Vëipa with new people. You know that few na'vi have been able to train the thanator, given that it is one of the most ferocious beasts on pandora. Jake took a breath and slowly walked towards her as he slowly raised his hand. Zevä raised her upper lip, baring her teeth and inhaling the avatar's scent. Sully spread his palm just millimeters from the palulukan. She let out a small snort before touching her nose to his palm and letting out a purr much to Sully's pleasant surprise. Your lips pulled into a satisfied smile.

-"She accepted you, you can get on her back." you said putting your hands on her back getting on her. Jake slowly walked past Zevä and get on her back behind you as well.

You looked over at your people to make sure everyone was okay. Securing yourself, you turned Zevä in your direction to head back to the Tipani and Anurai clan.

-"Wake up!" Trudy exclaimed, kicking Sean's leg. Her prisoner let out a pained sigh, opening his eyes hazily. -"Good morning princess."

-"W-what?" Wallen spat, his gaze managing to focus on the brunette. -"Who are you?"

-"Who I am isn't important right now, it's more important since when did you have this scheme with Parker and Quaritch?" Trudy replied with venom in her voice. Sean frowned at the woman, not wanting to answer her, but Chason kicked him harder in the thigh, making him scream. -"Speak or I put a gun in your mouth."

-"For three years..." he said quietly.

-"How did it all happen? What is this? Is it na'vi trafficking and theft of their things?" Chason asked, readying her leg for another kick if he didn't speak. -"I remind you that you have no way out, all this will be reported to the government. Your sentence may be lighter if you say your mother's milk."

-"I entered the RDA as a soldier ten years ago. Like everyone else I was under Quaritch, over the years I and my comrades became some of his best men, his trusted soldiers. Three years ago I was offered by him to join in his scheme and Selfridge's. The two discovered that there were many rich people who would happily buy something alien. At first it was just by stealing their accessories, tools and other wares, but Parker saw a bigger sale here and we continued with animals, as well as the savages themselves."
