Chapter 5

I felt the wind making my skin crawl, but I soon felt comfortable as Adrian pulled me closer by wrapping his arm around my waist. He gave me a warm smile and I loved it with all of my heart. "I love you Scarlet." Adrian said.

"I love you too Adrian." I replied. Then out of the distance, I saw a person walking on the hill, towards where we were. The wind messed up his black hair, and made his red eyes stand out even more than they already did. He gave a smile, that made me feel a little nervous around him. He was Adrian's best friend and I had to deal with it. "Adrian!" he waved.

"Hey Incubi!" Adrian greeted, giving Incubi a 'man' hug. They seemed so happy to see each other, and it had been awhile since their last reunion. Incubi had been assigned to a human down in earth where he needed to guard them from a demon. Now that the demon was vanquished, we angels could hang out together like we used to. "Incubi, you remember Scarlet right? The love of my life." Adrian commented.

"Oh how could I forget the lovely and beautiful Scarlet? The one who stole my buddy's heart and turned his world upside down? I could never forget." Incubi smiled, and kissed the palm of my hand.

"Its great to see you again Incubi." I said, giving a slight smile. After we made small talk, Adrian and Incubi had began to chat and catch up on each other's lives. Both of them were guardian angels, while I was higher above being an archangel. But even though Adrian was lower than me, I loved him. And he loved me. Nothing would ever change that. We will be together for the rest of eternity.

"Hey, I gotta go check up on my human down on earth. Why don't you two catch up on each other's lives and then I'll be right back." Adrian said. I didn't like the feeling of being alone with Incubi. Something about him just gave off a bad vibe to others, saying 'Caution. Stay back.' Or at least that's what it felt to me.

"Alright, be back soon." I demanded, leaned in to give him a kiss.

"I would never take to long to keep you waiting." he replied, and gave me a kiss on the cheek. I smiled as he flew off into the sky. Then it was just me and Incubi all alone. After about a minute I decided to actually try and be friendly with him. "So how does it feel to be back in heaven?" I asked.

At first he didn't respond, but then looked up at me with his eyes. They weren't happy, nor showed any positive feelings. Just depressing, sadness, and anger. Then he finally spoke. "Terrible."

I paused, making sure I heard correctly. Did he actually say, 'terrible'? "What do you mean? Doesn't it feel good to be back home, and now you can relax and do whatever you want?" I questioned. He gave me that same evil look in his eyes. Then he began to walk towards me. So I took steps back. But soon, my back hit something and prevented me from gaining any distance away from him.

When we were just inches away, he moved his hand, and clutched my neck. I grabbed his hand that was choking me, but I couldn't pull away. My strength wasn't working. Why?

"Your going to pay for taking my best friend. Your going to pay for everything." he threatened. I could barely breath now, and everything was becoming blurry. Finally he dropped me to the ground, and watched me catching my breath and cowering in fear of him. What had happened to the Incubi I had known before?

I gasped, lifting my body from the bed sitting up straight. My breathing became very heavy, and I felt sweaty almost. I was so terrified, worried and scared from the dream I had encountered. What was with all of that stuff about Incubi and Adrian being best friends? Also, Adrian and I seemed in love. Like serious in love. And we were all angels for goodness sake! Incubi is a demon and I'm just a human! How is that even possible?! 'Calm down Scarlet, it was only a dream. Anything can happen in a dream. Anything your stupid mind can create just to scare you. Anyway that was probably just Incubi scaring you.' my mind told me.
