Chapter 11
As Adrian landed, I couldn't be more happier and at peace. The nearby trees swiveled along with the wind, as the leaves raced upon the ground. For the first time, I almost felt truly happy. But something still bothered me. What Incubi had said. And these dreams I've been having, why is this happening? This all started when Adrian came into my life, so what about him triggered the dreams? And why were we angels? Well, why was I one? Dreams can be so confusing at times...
Adrian carried me up the steps to the front door and turned the knob. Everything was a complete mess like a tornado had run through it. I gave Adrian a look. He smiled sheepishly at me. "Now I know for a fact that my house wasn't like this the last time I was here." I said.
"Yea, about that...." he trailed off, trying to find some excuse.
"Adrian, what did you do? You said you wouldn't keep anything from me." I reminded. He sighed.
"I did this." he answered.
"Well that's pretty obvious!" I gave a duh look. "What I mean is, why did you trash my house?"
"When I couldn't find you, I kept getting frustrated. And I took out my anger on some of your things.."
"You getting mad and frustrated gives you the right to do this? You realize your not getting away with this without consequences." I spoke. He nodded and set me down on the ground. I looked around at everything, giving a sigh. Everything was totaled. Why would Adrian get so frustrated?
"Scarlet, can I ask you something?" Adrian asked. I turned around to face him.
"Depends.." I replied.
"What did Incubi say to you before I showed up?" Now why would he care?
"What's it to you?" I questioned.
"Just curious." he responded.
"He said something like I was no better than before, and if I didn't figure something out, that someone would eventually tell me." I explained. After I told him, Adrian was in deep thought. "Do you know why he said those things to me Adrian?" I cocked my head slightly. He froze. "Not really.." he stuttered.
"Tell me." I ordered.
"I don't know!" he raised his hands in defense. I narrowed my eyes at him dangerously, trying to see through his lies. He even said he'd never hide or keep anything from me! That liar! One more question and then I'm gong to bed. "Does angels being around humans cause the human to have weird dreams?"
"Where did that come from?" he laughed, amused of my random question. I rolled my eyes.
"I've been having strange dreams lately alright, I was 'just curious'" I quoted Adrian's response.
"Not that I know of. They could be just normal dreams, but weirder than normal." he smiled, still amused. I glared at him playfully and started walking for my bedroom. He followed. There was no way I was going to let him sleep. Not now.
"Oh no mister, your staying down here." I stood in front of him.
"Where am I suppose to sleep? Besides I'm suppose to guard you."
"Who said your going to sleep? Your not coming into my room till this place is as clean as it was before I left. No broken furniture, nothing. Got it?" I raised an eye brow. He gave a dramatic sigh, and nodded. I smiled.
"Good boy." I smiled sweetly, and patted his head. I then made my way towards my room. "I'm not your dog you know!" he shouted. I giggled.
"Of course not! Your my little puppy in training." I laughed. I closed my door, and stopped laughing. I barely heard Adrian picking up broken pieces of wood and making noise. I sure hope this wouldn't keep me up at night. I gave an exhausted sigh and walked towards my dresser. I took out a black, loose tang top, and some comfy pants. I slipped them on, and sat on my bed.
So many thoughts whizzed through my head, it gave me a headache just thinking about everything. But they wouldn't leave me alone. Now Adrian haunts my once pleasant dreams. What if in my next dream, he kills me? Or worse. Well what could possibly be worse than death? I me tally slapped myself.
I gave a sigh, and slipped under the covers. I pulled them till they reached below my nose. I liked being consumed by all the covers. They kept me plenty warm. And I was kinda cold.
I closed my eyes and gave deep soft breaths. My brain was finally shutting off for the night. Thank heavens! I was exhausted, and wanted to get back to my normal schedule. Hopefully Adrian wouldn't rush me into school. I'll possibly go next week when things calm down, or most likely, next month. When I felt comfortable again I would show my face in public. At last, I felt myself drift off, allowing myself to rest and regain my energy. Hopefully I wouldn't have a dream again.
~Morning~
Ding dong
I groaned, turning and hiding myself under the covers. That was probably just my imagination.
Ding dong
Guess not. Adrian will probably get it.
Ding dong
After this the person should leave. Adrian is such a lazy bum for not answering the door.
Ding dong
I growled. I threw the covers off in anger and stomped to the door. I walked into my living room seeing that everything was back in place and Adrian was passed out on the couch. He seriously slept through that? And wasn't he suppose to be watching out for me, like a guardian angel should be?
I grabbed a pillow and threw it at him. He stumbled off the couch, managing to hit his head. He groaned and I laughed.
Ding dong
"Seriously? You'd think a normal person would have given up by now." I thought out loud. I looked at Adrian and glared at him. "Why didn't you get the door?" I hissed.
"I didn't hear it until you woke me up." he grumbled, rubbing his head. I rolled my eyes and walked towards the door. I looked through my peep hole and it was a girl. A girl about a year or two older than me, with dirty blonde hair, and dark brown eyes. She was about an inch or two taller than me. I opened the door slightly. She gave me bored eyes. "Bout time you answered the door." she snared. Excuse me?
"Um, who are you?" I asked.
"That is none of your business. I'm only here to see someone."
"I'm the only one that lives here." I clarified. She snorted a laugh.
"Oh I see, I guess Adrian never told you about me." she smirked. My eyes widened. Who the hell was this woman? And how did she know about Adrian?
"I'm sorry but you must be mistaken.." I started closing the door. Instead she stuck her foot in the doorway, refusing to be ignored.
"You don't understand. I'm Adrian's girlfriend."
