The old man at my door step gave a warm smile. His blue eyes sparkled with kindness as he reached up to shift his glasses.

“Good morning to you sir,” he greeted in a British accent like my dad. “Are you the owner of this household? Mr. Oswald Hummings?”

“Yes sir. May I help you?” dad asked.

“Indeed you can sir, but may I ask if we can discuss inside?”

Dad stepped aside and let him through. It was odd hearing another British person speak besides my dad. My family was from England, but we moved to America when I was a baby so I only grew up only having a small accent when I spoke. As he stepped in, I suddenly felt like I was meeting someone great. Like the old man was someone very important somewhere in the world. Dad must have felt it to because after he shut the door behind him he straightened up with his business voice.

“Now what can I do for you Mister...” my dad trailed of hoping the man would fill in the blank.

“Ah! My apologizes Mr. Hummings. I am Professor Albus Dumbledore,” Dumbledore said.

I couldn't help but be amazed at the stranger in my house. Dad just gave more smiles.

“Well Prof. Dumbledore, you know my name,” Dad pulled me in front of him from where I stood at the side. “This is my daughter Jaden. Say hello dear!”

I'm sure that Mr. Dumbledore is a nice man, I mean he's been very pleasant so far, but I grew nervous when I stood in front of him. I felt like he was inspecting me. As if he was searching for something within me. I had kept my head down this whole time to avoid getting into 'grown up talk,' but the second I had made eye contact with him, I know he was here for me. He stuck out his hand for my to shake.

“It's a pleasure to meet you Jaden,” he smiled.

I took his hand and shook it. “A pleasure to meet you too sir.”

“Now as I was saying, what can I do for you Prof. Dumbledore?” my dad repeated his previous question.

“I would like to talk to you about something, Mr. Hummings, that concerns your daughter,” Dumbledore said, making himself comfortable on the love seat in the living room.

I saw my dad's eyes harden and his lips purse into a straight line.

“Jade,” he addressed me. “Go fetch some tea for me and Mr. Dumbledore here will you? I'm sure he would like some.”

I nodded my head and turned to walk to the kitchen. I didn't want to question him right now. I heard them start to discuss things when I walked away, but paid no mind to tune into it. It was their conversation so I had no right to be eavesdropping. But then again, it was about me.

'Oh nonsense Jaden. He's probably the principal of the new school I'm going to. Probably discussing my courses and telling Dad I'd be safe there,' I told myself. I had nothing to worry about.

I reached the kitchen and pulled out the tea set for guests. I grabbed some black tea, milk, and sugar before pulling the kettle off of the stove. It was still hot so I mentally thanked dad for having heated it up for his morning cup. I placed the small package of tea in the metal filter in the tea pot and pour the water in. I places the tea, sugar, and milk on a serving tray with cups and walked out back to the living room. When I can back, my dad looked livid. I had almost dropped the tray when I saw the look on his face. He looked so happy. Mr. Dumbledore looked pleased with himself as well.

“Jade! Sit down pumpkin! Mr. Dumbledore has wonderful news to tell you!” dad exclaimed. He was bouncing in his spot on the couch. Something must be wonderful if he was acting like this in the small amount of time I was gone.
